Re: Kadokawa Confirms Sony Acquisition Interest

MrMagic

While everyone is crying about this it seems it may have been a move from Kodokawa and Sony to prevent a takeover from a South Korean conglomerate called Kakao which makes sense because Japanese companies prefer to stay in Japanese hands.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Farming Simulator 25 Crops Up in a Nintendo-Heavy Top 10

MrMagic

@Matroska Yeah it's 5th but the lowest 13 are only separated by a few hundred players and the rest just a couple of thousand. Like I said before a few of them don't actually hit their peaks until much later when they go into the steam sales. The point is Lego games just don't do well on steam at launch apart from one outlier. Even the 4 top games out of the 25 games with 5k odd peak players are not good numbers either, sure they are better than horizon but they are still bad.

Maybe they have some data that tells them PC players are more likely to buy expensive limited edition Lego sets or something because Lego games on steam always seem to flop.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Farming Simulator 25 Crops Up in a Nintendo-Heavy Top 10

MrMagic

@Matroska have you ever looked at the Lego games on steam? Apart from Lego Skywalker Saga they all have low CCUs and most don't even get their peaks until months and sometimes years later. Lego Harry Potter Collection only hit its peak last month.

Lifetime Peak Concurrent Players

  • Lego Incredibles - 285
  • Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - 468
  • Lego Harry potter years 5-7 - 326
  • Lego Star Wars Clone Wars - 832
  • Lego Batman 2 - 523
  • Lego Batman 3 - 2,186
  • Lego City Undercover - 833
  • Lego Harry potter collection - 620
  • Lego 2k Drive - 1,039
  • Lego DC Supervillains - 866
  • Lego movie - 1,402
  • Lego Marvel Avengers - 2,112

Out of 25 Lego games on steam 18 of them have less than 3k peaks and only 1 of them has more than 6k and that's the Skywalker Saga with 82k.

Lego games just don't do well on steam at least at launch to the point I'm wondering why the publishers even bother putting them on there, maybe they have long tails and are basically evergreens or something so they eventually make a profit otherwise it just seems like a waste of time.

Re: UK Retailers Are All Discounting the PS5 Pro Already

MrMagic

@Porco you know exactly what I meant. It is off to a decent start and in Hiroki's own words the sales have been slightly stronger than the PS4 Pro's and the price is higher as well.

Keep hating though, in fact why don't you go on another rant about the Portal even though we only hear good things about the monthly sales for that as well. 👍

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Sales Keep Pace with Dragon's Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in UK

MrMagic

Dring also said it sold worse than Star Wars Outlaws which you've conveniently left out of this article and it took about a month for outlaws to sell about 1 million copies so this statement by him is so vague and pointless it means absolutely nothing.

He didn't even give any percentages like he usually does. He was as vague as possible and tried to paint it in a good light, which is hilarious because he ***** on Rebirth sales but suddenly Veilguard is doing okay according to him, yeah no make it make sense.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Comes Out Swinging, Already EA's Biggest Single Player Game on Steam

MrMagic

@DennisReynolds I saw a post with a big list of reviews that had what I would call legitimate criticism of the game. Which said go check Steam to check if these reviews are still there and I looked and they had been deleted but I did see plenty of reviews still there that people are posting just to counteract any review bombing.

Blatant comments like the game is just a 3 star game but I'm giving it a 5 because of review bombers or others like the game is a laggy mess for me despite what digital foundry said I can't get the game to run properly but I'll still give it 5 stars to own the chuds and incels.

There actually seems to be quite a lot of reverse review bombing going on for it which is working exceptionally well because of Steam deleting critical reviews and if the concurrent barely surpasses launch day then we can assume there was quite a few refunds happening as well and that the game hasn't really sold well on steam at all.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Comes Out Swinging, Already EA's Biggest Single Player Game on Steam

MrMagic

This is just Sony port numbers of their old games which we know don't sell very well on PC in the long run.

A better comparison would be dragons dogma 2 it is a recent game that had 228k concurrent on steam and took 2 weeks to sell 2.5 million on all platforms. Except DD2 obviously had a much lower budget than DAV.

Gamalytic has this estimated to have sold about 211k so far and even if it has done 3x that on console (doubt) which is actually not bad but not really that good for something that was originally highly anticipated and part of a massively popular franchise.

Circana & Dring will obviously be very kind with their statements about the sales, for that I have no doubt but I think we're going to be looking at Star Wars Outlaws flop numbers for DAV when all is said and done.

Steam count and Gamalytic aren't that reliable half the time though and sales could have already dropped off a cliff.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5) - The Best BioWare Game Since Mass Effect 3

MrMagic

@Titntin I'm happy you like what you see, good for you and I've watched plenty of reviews and videos about this game because I like the old dragon age games but I definitely don't like what I see with this one so I'm going to let that be known just like how you're saying I'm looking forward to it or you're going to give it a chance.

Unfortunately for you, you can't silence people. If you can't handle any criticism of the game then just ignore my comments on articles about this game, that should be simple enough right.

Re: Layoffs Reported at Horizon MMO Developer NCSoft

MrMagic

The 3 games that were cancelled were Battlecrush, Miniverse and Doguri adventure. There was no mention of the Horizon mmo mobile game whatsoever or any indication that its development was actually impacted but I guess that sub heading spices up this article.

Re: Ubisoft Disbands Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Team After Poor Sales, Claims Report

MrMagic

Looking at the sales charts for it in the month it released it was 13th in the US according to Circana and 4th in the UK from the Nintendo Life article with almost all the sales being split between Playstation and Nintendo.

Xbox's numbers for it were irrelevant as usual, I guess they just looked at it as a should've been on Gamepass game but I wonder what the PC sales were like, anyway it's a shame if they've been closed, hopefully the talent gets picked up by other studios straight away.

EDIT: looking at the Steam lifetime concurrent it definitely flopped on there as well.

Re: Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Web Swings to PC in January 2025

MrMagic

@Deoxyr1bose Would you have preferred if they waited 2 more days before they announced it? It'll have been 15 months by the time it releases on PC anyway and honestly I'm surprised this one didn't come sooner because of that leaked build from the insomniac hack.
