Lots of interesting games, unless you have a very particular taste.
But it makes me wonder, with all the recent troubles in game development, will the well run dry at some point? Seems like there's a higher risk to start developing a new game now than it was just a few years ago. Of course game development takes multiple years so it will take time for that effect to materialize...
Exploration/adventure that consists of part boat driving and part Uncharted style platforming in a sunken city. Third person but played in gorgeous VR though UEVR. Sony should really consider this option for PSVR2 players in non-VR games.
Citizen Sleeper
More akin to playing a tabletop game with dice while reading a book than a typical game. Still a pretty engaging and atmospheric journey about a lost and decaying android on a strange space station. If you love games with LOTS of text and with a interesting gallery of characters, like Disco Elysium, you should consider this one.
Nioh 2
I just started this yesterday but it took me about 2 hours to make a character and choose the starting weapons. Embarrassing, but that's just how I roll when there is too much to customize/choose from...
@ShogunRok They were definitely hard games, especially in solo mode (I had no friends with PSP and there was no normal matchmaking at the time).
I don't think I every killed a Crimson Fatalis or Lao Shan Long since there wasn't enough time to do so alone. And also a crazy grind for the right materials to make the best weapons of course.
But it was good training for when Demon's Souls came to PS3 a few years after. That was basically the gameplay of MH in the world of the Berserk manga (which I was also very into at the time).
@TheAmbienWalrus I remember being annoyed at Eurogamer at the time for giving that game a middling score. Those games felt far ahead of their time back then.
I try to avoid the claw nowadays though, my hand hurts just thinking of that
@TheAmbienWalrus You were even earlier than me to the series.
Monster Hunter Freedom on PSP was my first. Loved that game, despite the awkward claw grip you had to hold the PSP in just to control the camera while desperately trying to cling to life against a Fatalis.
If PSVR2 will also feature the foveated rendering and eye tracking on PC, it's gonna enable PCVR gamers with lower end hardware to play games they normally couldn't.
It's a VR game that's a mix of farming sim and puzzle adventure that was a pretty good, relaxing time. Played it on PCVR but its available for PSVR2 as well.
Amanda The Adventurer
Horror game where you watch an increasingly creepy kids show on VHS in an attic, and attempt to solve puzzles linked to the videos. A short (2 hours) but fun time.
I'm a bit surprised honestly. I believed making the "Netflix of games" with Gamepass was the entire strategy of MS.
Getting a few more game sales on PS5 shouldn't really matter to the gigantic money machine that is Microsoft, unless they are preparing to exit the hardware race entirely and focus on being a service provider. But if they manage to get Gamepass on Playstation eventually then obviously Sony will eat a lot of the profits from those subscriptions.
With numbers this bad, I won't be surprised if some publishers choose not to put their games on XBOX. Especially with all the extra work needed to make those games work on Series S.
I agree that some remasters would be the way to go, especially of PS3 Greats like Resistance, Killzone, Motorstorm, Infamous etc. Not every game needs a full remake that takes years to make.
I went to PC after being a Playstation gamer from PS1-PS4.
Having multiplayer games release on both PC and PS5 simultaneously, but let singleplayer come to PC after a year or so of console exclusivity seems to be a good strategy.
Well I remember a time not very long ago when many a commenter were relieved that MS was buying up all those studios, with the added security that good boy Phil and his team brought with them.
Well I remember how happy everyone was to get Bobby Kotick out of the Activision/gaming industry, but now it appears he got his fat ass out of there at the best possible moment and can laugh all the way to the bank... again.

Re: PS5's Astro Bot Doesn't Support PSVR2 Because It Was Never Designed to Do So
These games take years to make, so the decision to make it non-VR was probably taken long before PSVR2 was out.
Re: Preview: Phantom Blade Zero PS5 Slashes Through Soulslike Tropes for Pure, Cutthroat Action
@Thumper The way I remember it, many of those action games were plenty difficult before the Soulslike age.
Like the Ninja Gaiden series for example.
Re: Reaction: You Said You Were Sick of PS5's Sad Dad Sims, So You Better Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
"You’ve probably seen that meme circulating on social media, which shows a trio of trees from God of War, The Last of Us, and Days Gone"
Never seen it and can't seem to find it either?
Re: SteamWorld Heist 2 Gets Glorious, Extended Look at Ricochet Gameplay on PS5, PS4
Loved the first one, so I'm definitely interested.

Re: PS Plus Premium Gets 6 New PSVR2 Games, Available to Download Now
Nice selection that hopefully makes some Premium subscribers want to check out VR.
Re: Talking Point: What Are Your PS5 Predictions for Summer Game Fest 2024?
Out of those I would take XCOM3.
Bioshock 4 sounds great in theory, but I'm sure they'll find some way to ruin it.
Re: Anticipated Horror Game Slitterhead Debuts First Gameplay at SGF
Oooh yes, give me 5 copies please!
Re: PS5, PC Shooter Concord Appears to Be a $40 Game
Even if it was free to play it would struggle, but at $40 it will sink like a Rocksteady.
Re: The Last of Us 2 PC Port Wrapped Up Development More Than Six Months Ago, Report Claims
Hope there's a chance to buy the No Return mode separately at a cheaper price on PC.
Re: Don't Expect GTA 6, Judas, Beyond Good and Evil 2, or Josef Fares at Summer Game Fest
Haha that picture is great. Only needs a Kojima BFF locket around his neck and it'd be perfect.
Re: Summer Game Fest Will Focus on Existing Games, Not Massive Announcements
Watch it next day, fast-forward most of it, thank me later!
Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Is Making Some Big Changes as Capcom Drops First Gameplay Details
I tried getting some friends to join in on MHF back in the day but it was far too grindy for them to get into so I ended up having to do it solo.

That tv show was so good, until the last episode when all the mysteries were revealed and everything went incredibly dumb.
Re: Don't Worry, Sony's Most Recognisable Studios Are Still Focused on Single Player PS5 Games
Well yeah didn't they shut down most of the live service/multiplatform games in development? That's one way to focus on single-player I guess.
Re: Xbox Games Are Selling Gangbusters on PS5
And Sony is getting what, 30% of each sale? While MS is stuck with the bill for buying all those studios.

Hit after hit for Capcom.
Well, apart from Exoprimal.
Re: Heist Shooter Fairgame$ on Track to Deliver AAA Multiplayer Experience for PS5, PC
Hype level after first trailer = 0.
But... Payday 3 is pretty much a failure at this point, so there is room for a heist shooter in the market at least.
I do feel the hipster/zoomer-style might work against it, but maybe I'm just an old man yelling at clouds by now.
Re: Mad Max Dev Fires Back Following Furioso Director George Miller's Kojima Comments
Mad Max game was pretty good, although it got a bit repetitive towards the end.
But then again most open world games share that flaw, especially if you try to complete side objectives.
Re: The Last of Us: Part 2 Actor Jeffrey Wright Reportedly Reprising Role in Season 2 of HBO's Adaptation
I recently watched all seasons of Homicide: Life on the Streets (great series!) and a far younger version of him popped up there too:

@Frmknst But how do you define the good ones? Do you only play the games with highest Metacritic scores with no room for personal taste?

BOOOOOOb!

Juicy Realm. It's like Binding of Isaac, but way cuter.

Ahh Division.
Always felt those games had some truly great city environments begging for much better games than the ones that took place on them.
