Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5) - The Best BioWare Game Since Mass Effect 3

Totheteeth

I kinda take issue with the comparative reviewing that’s going on.

Are we now going to do this thing where reviewers say about every game with rpg elements: ‘well it’s not Baldur’s Gate 3 so… that’s two marks off’???

THEY’RE TOTALLY DIFFERENT GAMES.

I’m sorry but we did this with Elden Ring. Through very tinted glasses may I add. For at least a year every open world wasn’t Elden Ring so… (I didn’t even think Elden Ring’s game world was quite as incredible as a lot of critics made out either.)

Just seems to me to be a very warped way to look at games, picking the current critic’s darling and weighing literally everything up against it, despite the fact they’re not trying to even be similar.

Re: Xbox Fans Really Want a Port of PS5, PC Hit Helldivers 2

Totheteeth

It’s a live service multiplayer game. How can there possibly be benefit to keeping it restricted to an in house ecosystem. I really really can’t see people saying ‘I’ll definitely get a ps5 over an Xbox because I don’t want to miss out on Helldivers.’

In fact - I find it quite strange it isn’t multi platform already tbh.

Re: Jurassic World Management Sim Under Construction at Frontier Developments

Totheteeth

One of them is almost certain to be Planet Zoo 2. It has a huge cult following and they’ve nearly reached the end of what they can do with it without giving their community what they consistently request: flying mechanics and fully aquatic animal mechanics.

As an IP it’s made them absolute fortunes because the steady release of dlc packs is just a guaranteed money-printing machine. There’s no way they aren’t in the process of making a sequel…

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 520

Totheteeth

So … hear me out and don’t come for me - ok! I’ve been really really tired recently, to the point that I’ve only gamed at weekends.

That creates a problem cos after a week at work, you’re not in the rhythm of the game you were playing anymore.

So…

AC Valhalla gets released on ps+. It’s mindless. Mostly it involves clearing markets off your map to fulfil a time honoured gameplay loop.

Yes- it’s uninspired. Yes - it’s very tedious at times in terms of narrative. Yes - I understand ALL the criticisms of it and the Ubisoft formula. But … I don’t have to think and I can put several hours in every evening.

Now I’m going for the f***ing platinum and platinums aren’t even my thing. Sorry to all the hive minds I’ve offended by saying so. Over. Out.

Re: The Crew Motorfest Will Be Free from 14th March to 18th March on PS5, PS4

Totheteeth

This game is actually really good. I stopped playing it because it needed more playlists. So I put it on hold while they bulk that out and will go back to it. Don’t really understand the vitriol - it’s a solid game; not exceptional but very good single player experience with a decent amount to do. These days I think a lot of people just look at the dev and churn out some party line about their games. Sigh

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Adds Peacemaker, Krossplay Support as Invasions Season 4 Gets Underway

Totheteeth

They seriously haven’t aborted this abomination they’re calling invasions. It’s the most uninspired grindfest imaginable and what makes it all the more galling is that the reward for hours of grind is the chance to unlock the most tedious palate swap skins. Then you look at all the cool nostalgia skins they’ve made, which you have to pay about £27 a time for or whatever they think they can charge. Christ what a sh1tshow

Re: Naughty Dog Details The Last of Us 2 Remastered Upgrade Path on PS5

Totheteeth

I’m rather happy about this cos I do have a copy of the ps4 game on disc and never played it. Consequently I’ll be all over it for £8!

I played the first one and did like it but I’m not as head over heels for Naughty Dog Games as some. For me I play one once in a while, complete it on a middling difficulty and say I’ve seen it and it was nice - yknow.

Re: Expectations Are Already Sky High for Baldur's Gate 3 Dev's 'Next Big Game'

Totheteeth

I’m not sure I understand what’s SO boundary breaking about it. I must be missing something.

I get that there’s a lot of choice in chats and stuff and things can be approached lots of different ways. Perhaps it’s that most of those ways never occur to me and I just talk to people, make decisions and fight people in the way of my objective. I’m yet to see what is quite so groundbreaking apart from there being lots of options to choose from.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1's Microtransaction Backlash Prompts Free Fatalities

Totheteeth

It’s the skins which do my head in. There’s a massive and nostalgic heritage of skins for them to tap into. The single player mode (a huge grind) let’s you basically unlock skins which dress every character as the themed character that month, while there is this rotating conveyor belt of beautiful skins harking back to older games, each one asking you to cough up money while there is no option at all to play to earn them.

It’s literally sickening that one of my very favourite IPs has gone so far down this path that it seems totally irredeemable.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Alan Wake 2?

Totheteeth

@Nintendo4Sonic They can resist by not buying it (which won’t bring about change because it’s a trend which can’t be fought anyway).

It’s just intensely tedious to have to read comment after comment after comment saying exactly the same thing over and over again on EVERY single article relating to this game …

Re: Yes, Alan Wake 2 Will Make Proper Use of PS5's Pad

Totheteeth

The ps5 version of Control was the first time I really FELT haptics. I thought it was great so no surprise here.

On another note - do the ‘I don’t buy digital only games’ brigade HAVE to post literally the same comment on EVERY article relating to EVERY digital only game? We get it ok!
