@ChrisDeku I suppose the theory is that if you've got a CD Keys or whatever selling digital game codes, you could potentially be able to buy a $40 game for $30 because the retailer itself offers a promotion.
Then you might get Amazon trying to price match or bringing it down to $28 and so on.
None of this happens at the moment because you can only buy the game through the PS Store.
I tend to agree, though, I'm not sure how much mileage there is in this case.
The turnaround throughout Push Square's lifespan has been impressive. When I started the site, Sony was in an absolutely horrendous position. They were bleeding money all over the place (not just PS3) and seemed to have no direction or purpose at all.
Kaz Hirai obviously fixed PS3 and then went on to start the process of turning the company around.
As this article shows, they're now in a very, very strong position again. Really impressive turnaround which started mostly with Hirai as CEO.
He'll be remembered for the memes, but he was a really impressive CEO.
This is why these acquisitions f**king suck! These big companies overspend when the money's flowing, then they gut them without a care in the world once things get tight again.
It's so frustrating, and there's seemingly no consequence to it at all. In fact, some corners of the Internet cheer these acquisitions on.
Embracer, NetEase, Microsoft, even Sony, they all do it and it's gross.
@rjejr Yeah that’s fair, I’ll do a better poll next time. I suppose there are people who will wait for sales etc so are interested just don’t necessarily want to pay full price.
@Rudy_Manchego While I do agree to an extent, it just seems a bit mad to keep funding games they know are unlikely to move the needle, even if they do add to the overall portfolio.
I think they’d probably argue they’re better off investing that money elsewhere.
The thing is, all those games they used to fill out their schedule with on PS3/PS4, stuff like Journey, Flower, Escape Plan, Fat Princess, Trash Panic, and so on, they've been replaced by indies.
Back in the day there'd be like two or three new games on the PS Store per week. Now there's 20-30 new games per day.
I do wish they'd still find a slot in their schedule for stuff like Everybody's Golf though.
@Dodoo He doesn't see it that way. He says in the interview that he was constantly thinking they needed a fresh perspective and new ideas, and he points to stuff like PS Productions which he admits he never would have done.
@Oram77 There's actually a lot more overlap between Game Pass and PS Plus than you'd think. And not only that, Sony wants the 30% they get when a game is sold on PS Store; they don't want Microsoft wading in and giving all those games away for "free" on their own platform.
@Godot25 He did say in the interview that they'd both been at the company so long and were friends they were able to be completely honest and frank with each other.
I guess they're not counting it for some reason because it's not made by a PS Studios team.
Either way, I will say, it's clear that Helldivers and perhaps Ghost of Tsushima aside these ports aren't really getting the same kind of attention they used to.
I’m kinda fine with the nonsense but honestly a little disappointed it’s so long. Haha. Don’t get me wrong it’s great there’s lots to see and do, but I don’t really consider 30+ hours to be a side story! 😂
Yoshida did an incredible job. The reality is that, as things stand, the Switch as a product is simply a better "fit" for most indie games than the PS5.
If Yoshida and his team was able to overcome some of that then credit where credit's due. I think things like PS Portal will help even further in the future.
I know Yoshida left behind a great team, but they need to keep the same energy now he's gone. Keep doing what they're doing and ensure the content continues to flow.
It's such a massive change in strategy because it wasn't that long ago they were embargoing third-party devs to prevent them talking about other platforms for up to 72 hours.
Very tricky question! Definitely Tides of Annihilation for me. I love Stellar Blade and Nikke so went with that in second. Then third I could have picked from a bunch — Sonic Racing, Shinobi, Saros — but I settled on Metal Gear Delta.
@Nintendo4Sonic No, but retailers don’t keep hoarding stock that isn’t selling. Sony ships more units every quarter because retailers are selling through their existing inventory.

@LogicStrikesAgain Would make sense, yes.
Re: Xbox's Fable, Expected on PS5, Has Been Delayed to 2026
@trev666 No one is criticising it, just pointing out that the delay makes sense because it naturally doesn't look quite ready yet.
I'm sure it'll be fantastic when it's finished.
Re: Xbox's Fable, Expected on PS5, Has Been Delayed to 2026
@Enuo The visuals look incredible but the gameplay snippets look a bit rough. Interested to see more.

@Nakatomi_Uk Just to be clear, I didn't drop a point because of the font size. That is something worth pointing out though.

@Oram77 Black Myth would be third-party. Sony helped the team but didn’t really invest in it.

Re: 'I Played The Last of Us Online And It Was Great,' Says Yoshida
It’s worth noting, while it’s unlikely, there is always a possibility they find a way to make this work in the future.
If it really was as good as everyone says, it might not be dead forever. I wouldn’t be shocked if it re-emerged at some point.

Re: PS Plus Classics Patapon 3, Dropship Add Full Trophy Support
@DeepSpace5D The original Armored Core was published by Sony so that seems like the most likely of the three to get Trophies.
It's hard to say with the non-first party stuff, though. As others have said, we likely won't find out until the day before.
