@colonelkilgore It’s a full remake in a new engine to be fair, Sony would be charging that for a simple remaster on PS5!

@TrickyDicky99 I don’t see how this gets them in the ecosystem though. You still need to buy a console for you to be spending money in Sony’s store or engaging with other ways that they make their money, like selling peripherals or bloody disc drives. Until there’s a way to buy PC games from Sony direct, there’s not exactly an ecosystem argument to be made.

What’s the point of having to sign in? It has no online component, you can’t buy anything through the PS Store or something like that. Which means the only reason for this is to harvest your data. Review bombing is slightly laughable in any context but I can understand why there’s a backlash.

@Anti-Matter I wouldn’t be too sure of that, Outright Games has released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and DC Comics games, which contain characters who have appeared in 18+ media. Is that not exactly the same as Astro Bot containing family-friendly versions of characters who have appeared in adult only games?

This gen is disastrous. Yet another unnecessary remake to add to the pile.

Literally all they have to do is develop a turn based game for the Switch or Switch 2 and they’ll sell boatloads in Japan. They definitely seem to have been chasing Western sales the last decade or so and I’m not entirely sure it’s panned out.

@Doctor_BK The PS3 was a cutting edge media player as well as a console. It also included full PS1 and PS2 support. Even then it wasn’t worth the money for a lot of people. Even though it came out pre-financial crash. Comparing a mid-gen refresh to Sony’s first HD console that also boasted a bunch of features is quite frankly madness. Features like…. an actual disc drive. The inflation argument also doesn’t hold when wages have not risen in line with inflation.

@yazzika I think the main difference is just that skating has evolved. People just film everything on their phones now for starters, the fisheye lens look is retro for a whole generation. The grit wouldn’t be authentic to skating as it is now, you’d be more realistic having TikTok videos in the game.

I’m in if the engine is fun. Honestly spent far more hours just roaming about in 3 after completing every mission than I ever did following the story.

I’ve realised that due to the West Coast Main Line being added, that means we have both Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central represented in the game, which is great. I use that line if I’m ever going down to London and it’s a lovely route, even if Avanti can do one!

@ZeD The second game actually has a level set called TimeSplitters Story Classic that puts even more plainly into view just how much of an improvement 2 is!

This game feels like the fake game Ian Beale’s kids would be playing in the background of Eastenders.

@DonJorginho Haha, the glazers will do it for free no bother, it’s the devs who’ll all of a sudden start coming forward after the massive backlash to the price that are a bit whiffy. Geoff’s currently getting annihilated by Hard Drive over his obvious bought-and-paid-for PS5 Pro tweets, it’s not a stretch that they’d be wanting devs to defend it too.
