@DaniPooo Sure, and if I thought Sony would die before me I’d maybe consider a small drive for select games. Don’t think something this large would be required though, even then.
@DaniPooo
Don’t know. My PS3 is right next to my 4 and 5, but I’ve had no motivation to turn it on. Maybe if I was young and had unlimited time, but I haven’t even got time to play the games in my backlog let alone go through all the games I’ve already finished or play games that are 20 years old. Most don’t age well.
Well yes. I’m a console gamer exclusively but already know PC is the best place to play most games, especially with full dualsense support.
If you spend a thousand or two on the PC that is (most PCs, statistically, are well behind PS5 spec still).
Does the PS5 version not have mouse and keyboard support? Always thought it strange it’s not standard on consoles. I understand Sony not wanting to move people away from the dualsense, but have always been particularly confused about third party devs not supporting it.
The mobile sector is more “predictable” because it relies on addiction and manipulative psychological practices. Making a great console game is much harder.
Admittedly however, there are things that need to be done better, especially around visibility, the lack of which is a problem on consoles in particular and can lead to good games not being easily discoverable.
@DestructionAllstars Why? I make decisions all the time to not play games because of too little (or too much) content or challenge. What’s weird is considering developer given challenges differently depending on whether a little symbol happens to pop up in the corner.
@Member_the_game
lol, sure, because wanting an old game to have new challenges is weird…
Anyway, we, all of us, have so much to play, competition is so fierce, that not having the additional metagame of trophy challenges is a mark in the minus column. It does make it less likely I’ll want to play a game. Especially when they might be an added feature later.
At least Pushsquare are now doing articles to make up for some of the games that aren’t in their release schedule list…
For this game, no, looking into it I don’t do such intense horror games in VR. Too stressful (Resident Evil isn’t horror, it’s one of the greatest VR shooters ever made)
Theoretically I’m disappointed to see HFW leave as I always wanted to get around to playing it. Realistically, I haven’t found the time since it’s been on and have played many newer games, so…
@get2sammyb Ah well, maybe they’ll be patched in later. Will give them a miss for now. Still a good month of Premium for me just with Vacation Simulator though!
Nice. Vacation simulator and cult of the lamb are the standouts for me. Timesplitters games too, but don’t know if they have additional (trophy) challenges yet or if they are just the original content. Would take it from a nostalgia trip only to a viable full playthrough if they do.
Horizontal inversion? Why was that ever a thing? Pulling back to look up and tilting forward to look down I get, and it’s the way I’ve always played, but not this. Never this!
@Intr1n5ic
So you’re saying a company will determine they can charge £60 for something to get the best return on investment (with a higher or lower price being less profitable) but will instead decide to price it lower to better align with material costs? Sorry, don’t buy it. That must be an extreme rarity.
5/10 with no correct guesses. Also upped my speed to under a minute because of a leader board I’ll never top (well, I’m top out of 2 at the minute lol).
Pricing is never a matter of what something is worth, but rather a matter of what people will pay. Sony has the experience to do this calculation better than some armchair CFOs.
Fantastic. Had too much to play to get around to the sequel (not helped by all the PSVR2 games coming to Plus these days) so it’s good I can play this first.
Edit: Are we sure we can just get the original for £3.99 and then pay for the upgrade? You don’t need to buy the Deluxe PS4 edition for £19.99 which has the DLC, to qualify for the upgrade?
@itsfoz
I’m playing it right now too, and I don’t really get the whole difficulty thing with lock picking; you just rotate the left stick smoothly, then it’s just about adjusting the right stick so the orb stays in the yellow area. It’s easier after you get the skill to widen the area, obviously, but that comes very early on.
Maybe it would annoy me more if I had ever played the PC version.
For me the most annoying thing is the lack of manoeuvrability in combat, with it being so easy to get surrounded and thus die. Hopefully that’s improved for the sequel.
Great month. Already played Witcher 3, but Wild Hearts and Cult of the Lamb I’ll play (is wild hearts single player?), then Vacation Simulator. Will try out Timesplitters 2 (especially) for the nostalgia, and hang around if it has additional trophy challenges.
@__jamiie
Absolutely no witty irony intended or pretended. Where did you get that from?
I googled to see if the game was, shall we be nice and say “re-imagined for a modern audience”, and that’s the first thing that came up. So, no, I don’t want to support THAT KIND of regression alongside the dismissal of the scoring points for taking such pictures…it’s just a type of pointless and insulting content cut that I don’t support. I thought It was quite clear as long as the reader has no confirmation bias.
Of course there will always be people who find it funny to deliberately misunderstand and make the whole discussion about the immediate subject rather than the overall topic, but there’s not much I can do about those type of people.
My only experience of this game is watching my wife play it for a couple of months, so my opinions are pretty uniformed, but, in a general sense, I don’t see that nerfing weapons should ever be necessary in a PvE game. Especially a live service. If the devs think a certain gun takes away all challenge, then add enemies that aren’t as susceptible to that gun. Then later add guns more suited to those new challenges. This keeps a virtuous cycle going of interest/challenge/ fun.
Of course that’s more work, but live service games need this content to keep going anyway. I know the wife stopped playing as she said it was just too repetitive, and I could see that for myself.
@__jamiie Number 2. Funny how people ignore the quite clear line “[…]just don’t want to support this type of regression and I’ve got loads of other stuff to play.”
@BecauseBecause
No, lol. I clearly said why, you just thought it would be more triggering to deliberately ignore that. Internet peeps are always amusing.
@Thatguyoverthere
Do we know yet whether the photos are still possible, and just no points, or removed completely/redesigned female attire?
Edit: oh, I see they have definitely redesigned women’s clothes to remove cleavage. I think I’ll give this a miss, just don’t want to support this type of regression and I’ve got loads of other stuff to play.
It’s quite simple. Get it. Get the resi games, saints and sinners games, moss games, red matter games, Hubris, Pistol Whip, beat sabre, cyube, and well, loads of others dictated by prefered genre after that. Oh yeah, and Gran Turismo.
You won’t ever regret it. Especially if you are getting a bit weary of the same old types of games.
@Mattock1987
If a person lives in a single room bedsit with no family or friends, and never goes out anywhere, then indeed it wouldn’t have a point. Unless that person wants to watch TV and play a game at the same time I guess.
What’s got me playing more than usual is not Sony AAA games. I generally don’t like them (ratchet and Astro excepted). Rather, it’s my little Portal. Makes it so much easier not to feel like I’m ignoring the wife or hogging the TV, plus lets my lazy arse play in bed.
Other than that it’s PSVR2, which, obviously, is pretty much all third party.
@code45709
I had the same concern (mine was a gift, otherwise my experiences with the (phone) app would have made me hesitate to get one).
As it turns out, the app on the portal is infinitely more stable than on my phone, with no disconnects and rarely any noticeable lag.
Despite what others say, do not use the general experience with the remote play app to inform your decision about the Portal.
I presume my phone (and maybe your laptop) is doing other stuff in the background.
@Mattock1987
Of course not. PlayStation 5 doesn’t let you do that, and this just uses the ps5 and mirrors the screen.
You can just use your smart TV app for a streaming service though. I doubt many people would have a ps5, portal, streaming service, but still rock a non-smart TV.
As an aside, you also can’t watch a streaming app and then stream it to the portal to watch elsewhere. Guessing the likes of Netflix wouldn’t like that kind of public broadcasting.
@LifeGirl Well yes, but the higher the price the lower the frequency of sales. It’s quite likely that, if the price were lower, Sony would sell more. The reason they don’t do so is likely down to stock issues. Sony aren’t really looking to make money on the hardware remember, it’s all the additional games and Microtransactions they can get by increasing people’s play time by dozens of hours a week.
Don’t play these type of games. All I know is my wife stopped playing because it became more frustrating than fun. I really don’t understand how the devs can’t get that being able to kill stuff in a timely manner is more fun, and will keep more people engaged long term, than will nerfing weapons to eek a few more minutes out of each encounter.
Skins? Why? I wonder how long it will be until they push the courts to be able to sell directly and Sony lose billions. Can’t see this being good for gaming in any way.
I suspect you won’t even be able to take those pictures, not just that you won’t get points for them. It’ll also impact some quests. And is just insulting and stupid. Also, it’s not necassary to have “a peepee” to like girls. But, you know, not worth having those conversations online, because people like insulting others.
If I wanted to play the game I’d not get the remaster and just get the full game instead. Graphics are not that important to me.
Seems a bit off that Sony decides who gets to review a game. I’m sure they’ll have criteria like “within the top 5% of hours played on the game” or something similar, to ensure they get mainly great reviews.
@get2sammyb Oh that’s clear, and Sony should definitely have some rule about not being able to release thumbnails too similar to any other game, just on the basis of consumer confusion.
@get2sammyb
It’s not a logo as such, it’s the kanji for exit. And a yellow background. Maybe if they were a big company they could try to trademark with the font or something, but…
