Re: Random: Internet Trolls Tried to Downgrade Our Silent Hill 2 PS5 Review Score

What a sad thing to do. It’s just speculation of course that it is because of the desexualisation of the female characters (probably based on troubling modern views on people who disagree with censorship/whatever you want to call it), but whatever the reason, trying to deny reality is just ridiculous.

If it is the reason, while a very legitimate complaint, I’d suggest these people put their efforts into a more useful way to combat it, because this is not going to change public opinion.

Fair enough. I don’t necessarily disagree with value forming part of the review. The problem is that value differs per person. I’d rather reviewers just judged a game on its own merits then added a section specifically detailing the price and then stating their “recommended purchase price” . Channels like PSVR Without Parole do this for every game and I find it very helpful. It’s also more future proof, barring inflation issues.

Seems you marked down for price. I never agree with that. Especially as you won’t change the score when the price drops. I remember enjoying it hugely. Definitely better than a 6. Frame drops are sad, but visuals are more important in a game like this, and I’m sure they’ll be fixed with patches. I’d give it an 8 just based on the game and improved graphics.

Re: PS5 Pro Boost Is Pretty Clear Cut in The Last of Us 2 Remastered Comparison Video

@mountain_spider
Yes, thanks, I know all that. I didn’t think anyone would care about the specifics of my not being able to tell the difference. But yes, I meant in relation to movement feel. I do use 60fps because, as you say, there can sometimes be a bit less blur in some games. Not all. Depends on whether the devs reduce the horrible motion blur effect, but some don’t.

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

@kingtoten
I think everyone is getting confused here by “boost mode” on Series consoles, and just games performing better on new machines if they have dynamic res and uncapped resolutions. The games you mentioned were part of a limited time Series boost program that required each game to be manually worked on by a dev. They are in the list provided by Raffles above

Re: PS5 Pro Will Reportedly Boost PS4 Games, and Reduce PSVR2 Motion Sickness

thefourfoldroot1

@Raffles
Yes we know boost exists, that wasn’t in doubt. You might be a bit confused. It sounded like you meant the series X automatically can go over a games hard 30fps cap without changing the game code. But now you are linking to talk of a boost program that requires work to go over those limitations. Indeed, a program that seems scrapped.

In you article it says: “ Microsoft has since explained that there are no more plans for FPS Boosted titles "in the immediate future", primarily due to "finding where some of the limitations of our current technique is."”

Your first link said it released in 33 titles.

We were discussing whether the Pro could go over a cap without more work, and no, because that’s what cap meant. Just as the X can’t.

This FPS boost program is different to series X or PlayStation back compat mode, which will be useful in games mostly with variable resolution.

Oh, so I’m poor now, lol. I asked a question, you gave me an answer, I appreciate that, I don’t agree with it and said why but I’m civil. You, however, are a strangely combative and insulting person. Perhaps you should look into that.

For the record, it’s not about being able to afford the price, but about value. I have two PS5s, PSVR2, a Portal, and many digital and physical games and think they are all great value, I won’t be getting a PS5 Pro or this ridiculously priced, and to my mind unnecessary, 8tb(!) SSD because I feel they are exceptionally poor value for those with a standard PS5 and it’s given memory (which I have never bumped up against as I don’t play 20 games at once and don’t have time to play decades old games I’ve already finished when there is so much new to play).

Now, I’m off to play Max Mustard.

Oh, so you put me into a group you don’t respect because you already know my opinion. History has shown that’s not a good thing you know. But perhaps you are correct in my opinion and I’m happy to own it if so. In case you are not however, please tell me what you think my opinion is.

Re: Explore Hell Is Us PS5 in Extensive Developer-Led Gameplay Trailer

thefourfoldroot1

Looks good for what it is. Hopefully this is very early footage or mock up because that movement speed is infuriatingly slow.

Also, I really am tired of this dull, dreary type of aesthetic. I get they are going for a certain mood, I mean the game is called Hell is Us!, but I wish there were more colourful, happy games out there. Worlds I’d actually love to inhabit and explore. Only Japan does it these days, and still not as much as they chase the western market.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Annoys with Unwanted Deluge of Ads, News Feed

I guess they always planned this, or at least wanted to keep it open as an option, and that’s why they didn’t let us set our own background anymore. I meant, can you imagine the noise if they had removed our own carefully curated images, or that photo of dead gran or whatever?
As it is I hadn’t noticed. I go onto the tile I want and just press X.

@Titntin
And I didn’t say that was what you were intending to do. I was quite careful not to lump you in that camp, so no need to be defensive about that. I merely said others use your same arguments to alter things in such a way that it spoils other people’s fun, people who do not have the same “moral” blockages when such things pertain to fictional content that is consumed on a completely voluntary basis. I merely said your position was something to guard against, unfortunately, due to the already demonstrated impact on many games. Guarded against, not attacked or vilified.

I too thought that, on an adult site where people can talk civilly, and without malice, there might be a slight tolerance for a range of views.

Also, I wasn’t commenting on the comment you suggest (the one where you presume the poster was a woman). I just mention that in case you thought you were talking to the guy who did reply to it. These things can get confusing with multiple participants.

“ I despair at the highly polarised society we have become”

Amen, brother.

Re: Eve's Body Physics Get a Boost in Surprise Stellar Blade PS5 Patch

thefourfoldroot1

@Titntin
“ Im not spoiling anyones party, you play the game till your blind, ”

Unfortunately people do seek to spoil things with your same arguments. If you/they are loud enough we get a Dead Rising situation, Resi 4 situation, etc, etc. or, worse, Dead or Alive.

I am perfectly happy for you to just say it makes you uncomfortable to have (fictional) women in games be dressed and animated for titillation, you do you, but we have seen how the minority often scream down the majority. And when games are largely sold digitally, and can be altered or even delisted, it’s something to guard against.

Re: 'PS5 Pro Is a Really Good Investment,' Argue Tech Experts After Hands-On

If the boost mode allows them to get rid of re-projection in VR games then there is a small chance I’ll get it, but I think sites like this are the wrong place to declare that. Ask someone without a PS5 if they would spend the extra £250 on this over a digital original and there will be more people thinking about it. Those of us with the base model, me included, are less likely to see the value in the upgrade.
