Re: We Did a Double Take at NBA 2K25's New PS5 DLC

Blofse

Destruction all stars without the cars anyone? We all know how well that went...
Seriously it's actually quite difficult to judge what to buy these days as things are becoming so over saturated with free then paid for, paid for then pay some more, increased charges for base game - anyone would think it's a multi billion pound industry trying to work out the way to make the next billion... Oh wait....

Simple thing - let's not buy into this stuff. Let it all fail and then hopefully we will be left with the companies that choose to provide whole games on release and not these cheap sloppy add-ons that only cheapen the original mega purchase of £80

Re: Round Up: Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero PS5 Reviews Go Super Saiyan

Blofse

@DennisReynolds I guess but there is a lot more content that is paid for Vs not paid for, and wasn't communicated before buying a season pass or the ultimate edition. I expected paying so much money for at least the first years worth of content, but now I have to pay for another few bits. Forget about it

Re: Round Up: Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero PS5 Reviews Go Super Saiyan

Let's hope they don't pull a Tekken 8 and add battle passes, paid for extra stages NOT IN season passes, and other scummy not communicated money making techniques.

Weirdly this game seems to be one of the most complete fighters for a decade. Surely this isn't the direction Bamco are actually going? Thought they were going the scummy route!

Re: PS6 Is Already Deep in Development, Backwards Compatibility of High Importance

Blofse

@Cloud39472 think people have speculated the ps6 will be the last to support disks, and they are starting to make it more difficult for disks with selling them as a separate accessory and being out of stock drives people to software only. I suspect this is one tactic they will start using - very limited disk production numbers.

Anyway, why are we talking the ps6 now? I just want the switch 2DS!

In all seriousness, hardware developers go into conversations about this almost immediately after the manufacturing of the next model has got over so many and confirmed the design works. Be it a hardware uplift (like the fans or cooling for the ps5) or the ps5 pro. I would not think they stop for any period chasing updating components, cheaper prices or some other new competitive advantage in the hardware market.

For example, I should imagine the switch 2 hardware is done, the manufacturer has started so the next port will be to start looking at the switch 3 or other intermediate hardware/accessories. Everything has to be years in advance so the orders can be made to the manufacturers, which when large scale like this you book months of production time at once and so that has to be coordinated years in advance. Sega used to have the next one starting the day after the current one starts production, sometimes even two consoles in R&D at the same time such as the Saturn. Things are thankfully a bit more linear now, but still the same concept - everything is done years in advance and most likely the day after the current next console design is complete.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Astro Bot?

Every level has something brilliant and fun about it. Tbh I think it's even better than mario wonder, there is more to it. Some levels even remind me of when I played mario 64 the first time as they have so much originality it makes me laugh out loud.

Granted platformers are tried and tested, and this game borrows a lot from other games, but there is enough originality that makes it one of the best platformers for the last 20 years. It plays amazingly well too and is very well programmed to help you out. Not too frustrating, except the harder levels but as they should be!

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

Blofse

The problem is the lack of games that are currently taking advantage. If all games showed upgrades, for free, then it helps justify the £700 cost. But as it's under 10 games "and many more" - I'll believe it when I see it/when enough games utilise it and even then I won't be buying until that price comes down and after I've bought the switch 2. So late next year at the earliest. By which time they might have cancelled it anyway!

Re: PS5 Pro Showcase Coming Today, Hosted by Mark Cerny

Blofse

Finally, ray tracing as promised the first time round with the ps5!

Tbh I won't be buying this unless there is something really special for it or my ps5 blows up. Feel like I only got my ps5 yesterday and I'm actually reserving money for the switch 2, which I hope they release a lot of decent games for. Let's see how we go!

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Astro Bot?

Blofse

@roe I think you along with everyone else has missed that the second question is a double negative - it's basically saying "are you surprised it's brilliant?" And everyone is answering "yes" which means you are surprised it's brilliant, which makes it's bad. "no" I'm not surprised it's brilliant is the right answer

Re: Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox Delay Isn't Due to Platform Limitations, Says Microsoft

Blofse

If the game wasn't made in China none of this would have happened as exclusivity deals happen all the time. I genuinely believe all the was spurred on by Bloomberg, the same that started the anti china tech wars. In fact, all of this is so much misinformation I can't help but feel it's government stirring the pot as they see Chinese game companies as threats.

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Needs to Take a Long, Hard Look at Itself

Blofse

Jeeze that's some harsh words from PushSqaure! You guys really didn't like this one did you?

I hope Sony "unback" live service games unless they are free. Counterstrike worked, team fortress worked and many others did because they started free, gathered the feedback, listened to people and then charged for.extras. Starting paid only and premium killed it.

Re: LEGO Harry Potter Collection Will Be Re-Released for a Third Time on PS5

Blofse

Wow why does this game feel like GTA5 now? Tbh the way Lego games go I can wait a year or so for it to be on ps plus. Depends how much of a discount I would get. Tbh I would happily pay for an upgraded Lego city undercover - it has eye wateringly long load times that it puts me off playing it so much. Ps5 load times would suit that game so very much.

Re: Astro Bot's Free DLC Will Add Speed Run Stages By the End of 2024 on PS5

Blofse

DLC is a lovely bonus to a game I already think will be very "complete" on purchase. I've put my weight behind this one with pre ordering digital. Only 3 games so far have won that privilege in my near 30 years of games buying! But extra content, delivered as part of the asking price should be the way to go. Bamco/Capcom take note!

No physical switch version in the UK?

Just looking at the official website: https://www.capcom-games.com/marvel-vs-capcom-fc/en-us/product/#physical

For en us territory, there is a physical switch version and a ps4 version. However selecting en UK only shows the PS4 version. I've taken the risk and bought from Amazon US (even though it's out of stock).

Does this really mean there is not going to be a physical switch release in UK or even Europe? I bloody hope not, but at least I hope I've got my physical copy!

Re: Rumour: Xbox to Announce a 'Big' Game Coming to PS5 at Gamescom

Blofse

Looks like it's flight sim according to the rumour mill. Might even be flight sim 2020 rather than 2024

Funny how they will sell these games in a traditional manor on other consoles rather than supporting gamepass. That would mean Sony were right longer term as selling games rather than subscription is more sustainable. I would not be surprised if gamepass increased twice next year eventually hitting something like £30-40 a month. They have to claw back all that buying somehow!
