Everyone’s calling this cringey but I love it. It’s just like Chun Li’s victory animation from SF2 when she does her relatively elaborate celebration, but just different in order to show the generational divide the game is going for. If you don’t like it, just don’t play Luke and don’t lose perfectly against Luke cuz other characters will have their own.
PushSquare I like y’all, but man it really feels like you guys are fueling this discourse. Irrelevant to my thoughts on the game, I don’t want discussion around this franchise to be miserable.
I don’t know to what extent this rings true as it’s only one anecdote so far. However this is nothing but great news after the reported crunch during TLOU2. Naughty Dogs are one of the leaders in technical achievement, so it would be phenomenal if they used the already great foundations they built with TLOU2 in a much more efficient and non abusive way.
Do I just don’t know game development or is this really early for a game to go gold compared to its release date? I’m not saying this as like insult or praise towards the game I’m just genuinely curious.
I am far from surprised that DNF duel didn’t chart. Guilty Gear Strive didn’t and that was way more popular. DNF duel had some of the worst marketing I’ve seen for a modern release—it had almost no show presence, the characters were revealed randomly with 30 second trailers, Street Fighter 6 outclassed it in almost every way for audiences in June, and it looks extremely similar to other ArcSys games on the onset.
I am a bit surprised at what happened to Fire Emblem tho, how did that game get number one last week then immediately fall out?
I hate this tactic so much. “Hey buy this stuff you already paid and/or a completely different product you didn’t necessarily want and we’ll maybe make the game you actually want”. It sucked with Darkstalkers and Chibi Robo when it actually did kill those franchises. I was never big on the remake from its visuals and the fact that I can just buy the original on my Vita, but this makes me not want to support it.
I don’t understand personally how the narrative around Sonic Frontiers seemed to have shifted to being excited. I don’t want to say anyone is wrong for being excited, people can feel whatever they wasn’t about a product, but nothing shown after the initial gameplay reveal looks dramatically different. All this showed was the same combat and mobility, and now even more green hill zone for the 80th time. I don’t want the most exciting parts of the game to just be traditionally linear boost levels, because at that point what’s the point of going “open zone” in the first place if it doesn’t add a lot good.
There’s a lot of debate over like it’s visual quality and stuff like that, but the thing I’m most worried about is its identity. This game looks so generic from an outside perspective. I remember spending almost all the trailer when it was announced thinking it was a new NieR game. I just see nothing on display that would convince me to buy it over other ARPGs like FF16, Lost Soul Aside, etc.
Solid cast, but it’s really weird that the voice actor for Sophia is also the voice actor of Ringo, especially since those games are relatively close together and Ringo seems to be another female digital being like Sophia was.
This genuinely looks on the level of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition. If Square considers this a remaster and prices it at like $40, then I have no doubt this would be one of the best remakes in recent history in terms of just pure accessibility and revitalization that isn’t an FF7/RE2 style remake.
I genuinely don’t know why Microsoft would spend extra money just to mild inconvenience consumers. They aren’t even paying for exclusivity they’re just, withholding information for a mere 48 hours. It’s weird.
Man I would really just like to forget about this game and just think about it after reviews come out. Everything I’ve seen about the game looks awful, but people are really loving it. Even the small positive details that they are allowed to say because of Sega’s NDA makes me less hype (Like if Unleashed/Generation style stages are the highlight, then what’s the point of it open zone). They’re doing an awful job at communicating it, so I’m just gonna wait til people can be objective with it.
In the past 2 years we got: A sequel to a PS4 game on Switch, PS, and Steam. A PS2 remaster on Switch, PS, and Steam. A switch exclusive. A sequel on PS, Xbox, and Steam. A port of a PS4 game to Switch. And ports of PSP, PSvita/Steam, and PS4 games to Xbox, them only being announced for PS5 and Steam like 17 hours later.
Annapurna are really great publishers from what I know of. Them and Devolved are doing wonders for the industry, uplifting indie games that truly deserve it in a space so filled with AAA publishers corruption
Callisto and SF6 were showed off a week ago Neon White and Shredder’s Revenge are dropping the same day Troy/Ashley being lead roles in the LoU show isn’t game related Last of Us Part I was leaked
Releases like these should genuinely be illegal. I’ve never seen such a misleading and unfinished releases since Cyberpunk 2077, but even they have the decency to fix the issues plaguing the original release. It’s wild how little regulation there is for these gigantic publishers.
I don’t want to be one of those guys who pits games against each other—especially Elden Ring vs Horizon cuz that was extremely annoying and toxic—but it’s so weird that people keep on saying the industry forgot about Horizon, when it definitely has legs (especially for being PlayStation exclusive and not multiplat)
Genuinely what is the point of this? I doubt the money got from PlayStation to make like 1 skin or weapon exclusive was enough to substantially help the game. I can see arguments to make a game exclusive, even timed. However, all this does is makes the other experience objectively lesser with (I assume) very mild benefits.
This State of Play was on the level of some companies’ E3 presentations, if not better. Really knocked it out of the park. I could care less there was no God of War when we get SF6, FFXVI, Stray, Callisto Protocol, and Motordrome
PlayStation currently only has a couple of games confirmed for the pipeline. Them being at SGF is super exciting cuz we’re either getting an announcement, or info on Call of the Wild, Ragnarok, Spider-Man or Wolverine (tho those last 2 are very unlikely). Besides that, it’s a similar situation with Capcom where most potential announcements from them will likely be first looks, and I’m really hoping for a Persona 25th anniversary announcement from Atlus
Way more impressed than I thought I was gonna be. It seems like combat is more in depth than just the homing attack, it looks to be a good combination of the boost and adventure styles, and there is an amazing sense of kinetic energy.
@IonMagi I wouldn’t say that. The last one said it would focus on 3rd party Japanese games, and that same SoP announced the Returnal 2.0 update. Keep your expectations low, but I wouldn’t say that’s a given.
I think the ideal candidate is ArcSystemWorks. They’re not a huge publisher that would extremely centralize the market, but they are the top of the class at what they do. They fill Sony’s weaknesses of limited Japanese and multiplayer reach, and most of their games are predominantly PlayStation and PC already so Switch and Xbox players won’t lose out on that much. Perfect fit imo.
Man what happened… I’m one of those weird Platinum fans who don’t like Bayonetta, so the only big action game they have for this year is a live service game with 1 player
@MFTWrecks I mean beyond that there’s a lot of things i want to know. What movement options are there? Is it more floaty or heavy? How many buttons are there? I’m gonna check it out regardless but I wish there was more out there.
Of everything I’ve seen, I haven’t seen barely anything discussed about Multiversus’ mechanics. Compared to Nickelodeon which was the reason I play it, I’m completely in the dark about this games mechanics. If anyone who has the alpha could talk about the controls, game feel, mechanics, etc that’d be great
I don’t have as much of a hatred for this game as much as others. I’ll probably buy it for like $30-40 like 1 or 2 years down the line. However, the thing most interesting is how this seems to essentially be a side project that started around the time LoU 2 wrapped up. If Naughty Dog starts regularly releasing smaller projects with a big project somewhere in the mix, then they might be one of the more efficient Sony first party devs in the PS5 gen (but Insomniac is still probably gonna hold that title of course)
I unironically might buy more PS1 games on my Vita knowing it’ll be available on my PS4 through this crossbuy thing, like Jumping Flash or Syphon Filter
