I've had Phantom Liberty pre-ordered for a while, so obviously I'm really looking forward to it as Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favorite games of this gen so far.
With that said, I'm not sure if I will do a second playthrough of the game first with all of the changes and then go into the DLC or not. I've been wanting to do a second playthrough with a female character for a while now, but with all of the changes coming and other games I have to play, I decided to wait until the update dropped.
I'm in the minority who absolutely hated the ending to the game, so I'll have to wait and see what the DLC actually is before I would consider paying for it.
As for the new cosmetics, I do have to say I think Jill's new outfit looks great. I thought her regular outfit was fine, but I probably would have changed to this one if it was available day 1.
Roughly 25 hours in and I'm definitely enjoying it. As I've said before, I doubt I'll ever love it as much as the original trilogy, but I'm definitely enjoying it more than it's reputation.
@wiiware Somebody needs to read a joke book or something to get better at telling jokes. Even if this is roughly 100 GB, that's nothing compared to Call of Duty and it's 150-200 GB size nowadays.
Just messing with you, so don't get mad. I am serious about the file sizes though.
I know it's already been said likely dozens of times in the comments already, but this is a ridiculous increase. Even though it'd be unnecessary as PlayStation/Sony is rolling in the money from the PS5 and such, I could at least somewhat understand a small increase as pretty much everybody else is doing it. A $20, $35, and $40 increase across the board is just greedy. Also, having them increase just a week after the announcement is kind of a poor move.
I have Extra and I honestly have hardly used it other than to play Stray and Life is Strange 2. I will likely play Sea of Stars at some point too. That's on me as there's plenty of games to play on there, but I will only consider continuing my subscription if I can find a good deal. No way in hell I'm giving Sony $135 for a year of the service.
It wouldn't surprise me if nothing improves with it either.
Focusing on the games and not the price increase since that is what this article is really about, I would have to say that this is one of the worst months for game quality. With that said, I'm actually happier with this than some other months. I know it sounds crazy, but there have been months (even recently) where I have skipped claiming any of the games as I wasn't interested in any of them, but I'm glad to see Saints Row being offered here. I'm more interested in trying that than some of the other previous titles offered.
@zhoont But it makes perfect sense for game after game to come out in October, guaranteeing several games will bomb or at best not sell as well as they should have?
I was making valid points. No reason to respond like I'm an idiot.
Not surprising given that it's about to leave Game Pass, so I was hoping and kind of expecting it would end up on the PS5 at some point after it's year on the service was up.
I'll definitely get it at some point. I think it looks great.
A real shame that a top level developer in the genre is closing down. It's not like there aren't other strategy games, but it's also not a genre that is flooded with them like third person action adventure games.
I've been tempted to buy this when it was on sale a few times, so I'll happily take it for free. I know it's not what it could have or even should have been, but I'd probably enjoy it.
@zhoont It's not just this game though. Seeing one game after another being announced as releasing in October is ridiculous because it's impossible for them all to sell. Hollywood does this with movies on Christmas Day and most bomb, and the same will happen with some of these games.
Even just pushing it back another week would have helped a lot more. It would still have had a week before Call of Duty.
@PSme Thanks. I had it crash twice on me loading the game up from the main menu within the first 3 hours, including the very first time I tried playing the game. I also had to reload the checkpoint because a door was glitched shut and I had no option to open it, but other than those three things it's been smooth sailing. Obviously 3 things in roughly 10 hours isn't great, but it could be worse I suppose.
It has yet to truly grip me like the original trilogy after 10 hours, but I'm still enjoying it and it's better than it's reputation. I have a feeling my enjoyment will rise the more I get to know some of the crew, which contrary to popular belief has some pretty solid characters amongst it.
A week after instead of 3 days before is better, but only slightly. Some people will still be playing Spider-Man 2, and October is so ridiculously overloaded that a lot of the games will not sell anywhere near like they could have. It's like in Hollywood on Christmas Day where most of the movies bomb because they release way too many at the same time.
I agree with the person above me that a delay into November would have been a lot smarter. Having much more room to breath is better than coming out before Halloween, and I'm not sure why October became video gaming's Christmas Day this year.
@Lup Yes it did. They had issues with using the Frostbite engine along with having to cut features because they had to release it on the PS3/360 instead of just on the PS4/Xbox One.
I still have faith that the game could be good when it finally comes out. BioWare is not what they once were, likely largely because of EA, but that doesn't mean this will automatically be crap. Mass Effect: Andromeda is not a bad game... once it got fixed.
It would be a hell no for me, if that was a poll option. I would have absolutely no use for it. Having to use it in conjunction with your PS5 at home defeats the whole purpose of having it. If it was it's own handheld system like the Switch where you could take it anywhere (with the option to use it like this is designed), then it would be a lot different. This is a $200 paperweight.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the only one I'm interested in right now, so I'm good.
The beginning of 2024 is nothing like the ridiculous overloading of October, where it'll be impossible to play or even buy all the ones some people might be interested in.
If I end up enjoying Broken Sword 5 like I think I will after buying it several months back, then I will definitely be getting both of these at some point. Good unexpected news, probably for me at least.
This shouldn't really help much. It is a better move than putting it out 3 days before Spider-Man 2, but there's still way too much coming out in October. Other than the biggest guns like Spider-Man 2, Mario, and Assassin's Creed, i expect initial sales of games coming out then to be like Hollywood movies at Christmas.
I agree with the person above me that it would be better to delay it into November. It would still be out before Black Friday (even though it's digital only), and there'd be a lot more people freed up to play it right away.
Good to see and it will definitely help sales, but it remains to be seen whether it matters for me personally. I was planning on waiting on this until later on given that Spider-Man 2 was coming out 8 days later. It really depends on how long the game really is whether I now get it early or not. I'm not able to rush through games like some other people can, so if I think there's any chance I won't be able to get it done, I will still likely wait until Christmas. I'd rather not end up trying to rush through it.
@naruball I know you're mocking my post, but I'm not wrong that there's really no excuse for a game to have that in 2023. It'd be a bit different if it was a JRPG being localized, but that's not the case. Also, skipping a game because of multiple things (spelling errors included, not just them) is different than enjoying a game already and then noticing spelling errors.
Not looking to argue or anything, but I did feel the need to respond to the unnecessary mocking of my original post. I was only giving reasons as to why I wouldn't be buying the game.
I voted mostly happy even though I don't plan on playing many of them. Between my backlog and new releases, I don't play the games on Extra as much as I should, but having even a couple of games on there that I'd actually go out of my way to play is a positive for me. Sea of Stars is what I voted for, and will be a definite play at some point as long as it doesn't turn out to be a surprising disappointment.
Wanted a nice palette cleanser after spending 80+ hours on Final Fantasy XVI. I'm roughly halfway through the game so far after starting Episode 3 last night and I'm enjoying it. It will probably end up being my least favorite of the series, but considering the series has unexpectedly become one of my favorites, that's not necessarily a bad thing at all.
I'd take The Last of Us: Part III over yet another re-release (aka PS5 release of The Last of Us: Part II). A PS5 version of Part II like they did with Part I is inevitable, but it'd be even worse if that would be the unannounced game. That would mean that Naughty Dog, PlayStation's flagship studio before Insomniac took over, have essentially worked on nothing worthwhile ever since Part II originally released. Yes, I am dismissing the multiplayer game because I could care less about a multiplayer game from such an important single player developer.
Regardless, that would be far worse than them not working on another new IP because it would mean Naughty Dog has turned into a complete waste. Of course I would love a new IP as well, but getting a brand new single player game of any sort from Naughty Dog is the most important thing imo.
I'll pass. No way I can support a game that has the technical/visual issues as this does. Spelling errors along with both UI and transition are inexcusable in 2023, especially the spelling errors.
I'm glad that it seems to be entertaining for the people willing to overlook the game's flaws, but between plenty of other stuff coming and issues that shouldn't be there, I won't be one of those people. Enjoy though.
It's fine that they are bringing it to the PS4, but for $50 is an absolute joke. It doesn't matter though as despite the reaction here, I have a hard time believing it won't sell.
I still have my PS3 copy, but I would have considered getting it at some point to play it all over again with a fresh set of trophies if it was $30 at most. Oh well, it's not like I don't already have a ton of other games to play.
If it turns out to be good, I'm all for buying this at some point. I enjoy the genre, even if I don't play that many games in said genre. Actually good Fire Emblem clones aren't exactly made in abundance either.
This is skewed because of the price of it, but still, for it to be any sort of a success is kind of bonkers. I'm sure the actual controller itself is actually good, but given the price and atrocious battery life, I can't see why that many people outside of competitive online gamers would buy the thing. Granted there are plenty of them, so I guess it was automatically going to sell ok and is why it sold even decent even though it's severely overpriced.
@Rob_230 I get what you're saying as well, but I still find it hard to believe that they couldn't have features like Check for Updates for your whole library rather than just on the Home screen by now.
That and obviously my oft-mentioned pet peeve of the forced Activity Cards that essentially ended up taking away the game art as the background from the games on the Home screen. I may never understand why we didn't at least get the option to revert this part back, especially since it doesn't alway work right anyways.
No, there's really no reason to unless you have it in a room where you are playing it late at night and don't want somebody to hear the beep when you turn it on. Otherwise it's basically the notification that it is actually turning on whenever you turn it on, or if you happen to do it by accident. I voted that it's integral because in a way it is.
I'm not faulting the people who actually want this feature, but it's also sad that there are several features that really do need to either be changed or added, and we are getting this instead. It makes you wonder what they are truly doing when actual integral features that should already be there continue to get ignored, but they spend time with updates like the one that's in beta now.
@Deshalu Yes, but you don't have to pay a subscription to play anything that is just single player on PlayStation. To even play the games on Game Pass, you have to pay the subscription fee. There is a difference and the issue of the games being locked behind a subscription for people who don't have an Xbox is a legitimate issue whether you and others continue to choose to ignore it or not.
Sure, it's done, but that doesn't make this good. Whether they wanted to sell to them or not, it still isn't good. The fact that they want to do more isn't good. This shouldn't even have to happen if Microsoft didn't put themselves in this position, and to even consider what Sony has done to be just as bad gives a certain impression. If Microsoft even tried to be more competitive over the last decade plus, Sony wouldn't have been able to do what they have been able to do, and to counter with tactics that are honestly more anti-consumer is pretty bad.
@theSpectre You're likely not wrong, and that would make what I said irrelevant, but at the same time it's gone on for so long and Activision/Blizzard has very little I even care about that I honestly don't care anymore what happens with that specifically.
I have a feeling that them buying EA might actually get blocked after already buying somebody as large as Activision. At least I hope it would. Still, if they do end up buying a lot more, it would obviously be disastrous for the industry and gamers alike. It would also obviously be far worse than anything Sony has done. Nobody is coming out of the FTC trial looking good at all, but forcing everybody onto Game Pass with games from some of the biggest developers in the industry is pretty bad.
As I said above, it seems to get ignored that you have to pay a subscription fee to play these games that are "in more people's hands".
@Deshalu I don't deny that some of the things Sony has done aren't exactly consumer friendly, but at the same time it wouldn't have been so easy if Microsoft didn't fall so far behind.
You have to pay a subscription fee to play those games. Say somebody just owned a PS5. They could have still played those games with just their PS5, but now they'd have to subscribe to Game Pass to play them and not even own them. It is what it is, but at the same time it seems all the focus is on the fact that Game Pass is available on a lot of devices but not on the fact that you still have to pay for it. Sure, Game Pass is available on way more things than just a single console, but it's not like everybody already subscribes to Game Pass.
I'll consider getting it whenever it's a lot cheaper. I understand they can only go so low on how much they charge regardless of length, but even $15 for a roughly 1 hour game is still too much. I never heard of this game before, but I am still glad for people who will play it and the developer that it turned out to be pretty good.
@Deshalu They came off as whining at the very least, literally blaming Sony for their shortcomings and not taking the blame when it is their own fault. Yes, Jim Ryan and friends were whining about Call of Duty and such, but that's not what I was talking about.
It's hard for me to have much respect for Xbox given how they chose to talk about the position they are in, and in turn decide to just buy up huge companies in order to fix their self inflicted problems. It's good to have better competition so Sony doesn't get too complacent, but anybody who screws things up as royally as Xbox did and then point the finger at somebody else for it doesn't really deserve really anybody's respect.
Full disclosure, I actually have a Series X, so technically none of this really matters. The Bethesda buyout actually bothers me more though as I have to have a Series X to play those games (could care less about Activision anymore). I would love to just be able to have the one console to play most of the games I want to play, and that console would obviously be the PS5. It's not even about being a fanboy or not, but it's just easier and more financially beneficial to only use one console if at all possible.
@Cordyceps Not denying that it might have happened for a few people, but that is also a poor example given how it never ended up being anything more than an isolated incident with people that don't have their PS5s properly ventilated (judging by videos from YouTube and such).
Regardless, it's still dumb for companies to continue to make that statement as again, games don't push the systems to their limit this early into the console generation. In this case though, after reading the source article and watching the trailer, this is on Push Square's continued shaky reporting of late as nowhere does it say that this "pushes PS5 to it's limits". Where Sammy got that from, I don't know.
@KaijuKaiser You're not wrong and this may be able to survive given that it will have a somewhat different crowd, but my comment was also in general about so many games coming out at the same time. It just comes off as a bit dumb to add yet another one to the bunch, just like Hollywood does with movies on Christmas Day.
I do hope it turns out to be good regardless for the people interested, but it is puzzling with publishers think it's a good idea to keep adding more games to an already overloaded month.
@theSpectre I don't care to get too involved in this as honestly I'd rather this just got pushed through and we all moved on, but anybody thinking that Microsoft didn't come off as whining about being behind Sony during this is just delusional or whatever. They only have themselves to blame for being in the position they are both in the market and in terms of exclusive games. They sat there for over a decade watching their lead and momentum with the Xbox 360 complete evaporate by relying on a handful of series and nothing else. Their lack of exclusives is because of themselves, not Sony.
Anybody who thinks this getting permanently blocked would be a good thing isn't thinking it through. I it gets blocked, Microsoft will just go after other major but smaller developers and publishers. That's worse than them buying a company that has Call of Duty, Diablo, and almost nothing else active anybody cares about.
These developers/publishers need to shutup. No game pushes a system to it's limits not even three years into a console's lifespan. It's already tired that companies continue to spew this.
As for the game, it seems like it has potential at least.
Yeah, cause people will buy and play everything all at the same time. None of the games coming out in October will get ignored because so many are coming out at the same time. Everybody has 4 or 5 PS5's, TVs, and $500 to buy and play these games all at the same time...

Re: Square Enix Bafflingly Backtracks on Final Fantasy 16 Sales, Blames 'Slow' PS5 Adoption
I didn't know this was April Fool's Day already. Oh, wait, it's Bloomberg. Never mind...
Re: Larian Studios Pays Voice Actor to Make 'Sexy' Baldur's Gate 3 Sounds Using Hand, Mouth
I have to give the voice actor credit. At least he was able to have fun with it by posting that video.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 488
Finishing Final Fantasy XVI. I'm at 97% and I believe about to start the final boss battle. Still loving the game, so I hope it sticks the landing.
Re: Solid Fire Emblem-Esque Strategy RPG Lost Eidolons Marches to PS5 on 24th August
If it turns out to be good, I'm all for buying this at some point. I enjoy the genre, even if I don't play that many games in said genre. Actually good Fire Emblem clones aren't exactly made in abundance either.
Re: PS5's Pro Controller, the DualSense Edge, Is the Best-Selling Accessory in the US
This is skewed because of the price of it, but still, for it to be any sort of a success is kind of bonkers.
Re: Poll: Will You Be Muting Your PS5's Beep?
@Rob_230 I get what you're saying as well, but I still find it hard to believe that they couldn't have features like Check for Updates for your whole library rather than just on the Home screen by now.
That and obviously my oft-mentioned pet peeve of the forced Activity Cards that essentially ended up taking away the game art as the background from the games on the Home screen. I may never understand why we didn't at least get the option to revert this part back, especially since it doesn't alway work right anyways.
Re: Poll: Will You Be Muting Your PS5's Beep?
Re: Microsoft Urges UK Regulator to Renege on ActiBlizz Block, Points to PlayStation Deal
Re: Microsoft Urges UK Regulator to Renege on ActiBlizz Block, Points to PlayStation Deal
Re: Microsoft Urges UK Regulator to Renege on ActiBlizz Block, Points to PlayStation Deal
Re: Lost Soul Aside Pushes PS5 to Its Limits, Likely Cancelled on PS4
@Cordyceps Oh, well then that obviously went right over my head. I guess in all fairness it is hard to tell sometimes.
Re: Mini Review: Venba (PS5) - A Moving Tale of Love, Loss, Family, and Food
I'll consider getting it whenever it's a lot cheaper. I understand they can only go so low on how much they charge regardless of length, but even $15 for a roughly 1 hour game is still too much. I never heard of this game before, but I am still glad for people who will play it and the developer that it turned out to be pretty good.
Re: Microsoft Urges UK Regulator to Renege on ActiBlizz Block, Points to PlayStation Deal
Re: Lost Soul Aside Pushes PS5 to Its Limits, Likely Cancelled on PS4
Re: Helldivers 2 PS5, PC Release Date May Be Set for October
@KaijuKaiser You're not wrong and this may be able to survive given that it will have a somewhat different crowd, but my comment was also in general about so many games coming out at the same time. It just comes off as a bit dumb to add yet another one to the bunch, just like Hollywood does with movies on Christmas Day.
I do hope it turns out to be good regardless for the people interested, but it is puzzling with publishers think it's a good idea to keep adding more games to an already overloaded month.
Re: Microsoft Urges UK Regulator to Renege on ActiBlizz Block, Points to PlayStation Deal
Re: Lost Soul Aside Pushes PS5 to Its Limits, Likely Cancelled on PS4
These developers/publishers need to shutup. No game pushes a system to it's limits not even three years into a console's lifespan. It's already tired that companies continue to spew this.
As for the game, it seems like it has potential at least.
Re: Helldivers 2 PS5, PC Release Date May Be Set for October
Yeah, cause people will buy and play everything all at the same time. None of the games coming out in October will get ignored because so many are coming out at the same time. Everybody has 4 or 5 PS5's, TVs, and $500 to buy and play these games all at the same time...
