Halo on PS5 is bordering on absolute at this point. The console wars are over and have been for a long time.
I would however wait for a sale to buy them. In my opinion, the earlier games that everyone raves about really have not aged well. And the later titles seem to be the very definition of 7/10 from what I've experienced of them.
Maybe it is being targeted for no other reason than ''trolls are gonna troll''.
Not everything has to have an agenda or a conspiracy behind it - even in these politically charged times in which we live. For some people, it really is just a bit of fun to ruin someone else's day.
@tameshiyaku @Stevemalkpus So... I've been trying to Google this, because like you I could not believe my eyes. And it really does seem to be a legit screenshot although fully willing to be corrected on this.
If true, that looks terrible. The remaster makes him look like an action figure! I haven't seen a remaster this bad since FFX made Wakka look like the Cheshire Cat.
More the pity however that it comes at a time when the PS6 is already in development. But if this is the standard that we can expect from it from year 1 then it is already a massive step up in quality from the PlayStation 4.5.
Just to throw in my two cents regarding the main character. I do not believe that anyone beyond the most egregious sexist cares that she is a woman.
My problem is that I'm just kind of sick of playing these morally grey antagonists. I like playing the hero - or at least the everyman. Too many games today expect me to connect with someone who is a piece of trash and I just cannot do that. GTA is the exception purely because Rockstar have some of the best writers in the industry.
The coming downfall of Ubisoft is both delicious and deserved. Anti-consumer to its core, it took its fans for granted and looked out only for its shareholders - both of which are now deserting it in droves.
@Pranwell Wrong about what though? He hasn't actually said anything beyond "it's better". This is near enough a non-statement. We do not even have a Pro screenshot.
And btw, the issue was never "is it better?" The issue is "is it $700 better?" And nothing I am seeing here proves it one way or another.
Sorry. But anyone here who thinks that advertising on the homepage or even in-game ads isn't on the way is deluding themselves. There is too much money in it and Sony have consistently proven themselves to be anti-consumer enough to do it.
It is all about baby steps as they test the waters. Once upon a time the biggest gaming controversy was horse armour. Now we have games making hundreds of millions from the scummiest practices imaginable.
Question: Were the Beauty and the Beast photoshoots controversial for any legitimate reason or was it the usual anti-Stellar Blade crowd having a moan?
Anyway... the best photo mode I have ever seen was FF15. It was cool having all of these random pics of your adventures.
Im not saying that the series does not have its fans, but skateboarding, and extreme sports in general, have never been as popular again as they were around the year 2000. Every household name that has ever come from the x sports came from that time.
Now held up as a revolutionary game that prophesied the coming of social media, fake news and information control... but I bet that you tuned out during the Colonel's fifteen minute monologue where he explained all of that to you at the end didn't you?
Square ENIX's expectations were too high. Simple as that. Most people would have been thrilled with the sales and reviews that those games got. Modern corps have an "always must get bigger" mentality that is completely unsustainable and is contributing to the current decline of the medium.
Good luck but I doubt that it'll work without employing some seriously talented editors.
Kojima's stories are imaginative. They are layered. But most importantly, that are convoluted as all hell. Not understanding one of his plots on your first playthrough is a meme at this point.
Everything is going towards more ads. Will there be a day when you load up your console and see a twenty second ad for McDonalds if you aren't a Premium member? Yep. I think there will be. There is simply too much very attractive money in it for them to resist.
@AdamNovice Maybe they never did need a mascot - but they clearly want one now because there is guaranteed money to be made out of it. Why else do they keep on pushing this character?
@NxtDoc I know what you mean about the ''it'' factor.
Sony's problem - and it has had this for a long time - is that it does not have a mascot aka a household name in which people automatically link to the brand. Nintendo has Mario and Zelda, Xbox has Master Chief, Sega has Sonic, but Sony has never quite managed it.
I think that they are trying VERY hard with Aloy but I just do not believe that they have succeeded. The closest that they ever got imo was with Crash Bandicoot back in the 90s.
So if I'm reading this correctly, 44% of people who answered a poll on a PLAYSTATION FANSITE do not plan to buy it?
That is a colossal number. That is like 44% of people on a Manchester United fansite planning not to buy a ticket. Something has gone seriously wrong somewhere.
Without the correct server a lot of physical media is also bricked. I read the other day that there is a Tony Hawk's game that is now basically impossible to play.
There is a second video game crash coming. I firmly believe this. It won't look like the first, but the evidence is everywhere. Studios closing, the lay-offs, the multi-million dollar failures, strike threats, AI. This industry will look very different soon.
What's ridiculous about that? The idea that people could get worked up about it or the scenario itself? Because frankly, if it's the former, then i find it very hard to believe that someone who is one of the main writers for a video game fansite can not understand how and why people get emotionally attached to fictional characters.
Some people take it too far. Yeah, sure. But ridiculous? Absolutely not.
@tameshiyaku Watch out for the story being told differently than in the games. I've just got this feeling in my bones that it'll be a broad strokes adaption to keep people on their toes and to correct any existing narrative failings. The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones liked to do this.
"and difficulty spikes mean it really shows its age."
Thats a modern gamer sentence if I ever heard one lol. Games used to get more difficult as the levels went on, it was called progression.
"and the controls can be initially tricky to work out".
They're not. They're really not. This is your classic "press X to do anything" kind of game. Aim joystick up, press X, worm dies. Aim joystick forward, hold X, worm dies.
"The next big thing" is the kiss of death for any product. Concord, concorde, New Coke, Betamax, laser disc, minidisc... history is absolutely littered with examples.
@ButterySmooth30FPS That is quite literally the dumbest thing i've heard in weeks. And considering that ''in weeks'' includes Donald Trump claiming that immigrants are eating pets that is an achievement.
@naruball You are literally saying this a few weeks after Sony lost 400 million dollars on Concord. Clearly there are some businesses out there who are willing to take that risk.
@ButterySmooth30FPS If it can run on a last gen console then it is a last gen game. That is literally how that works.
Why do you think that the PS5 is such a disappointment to so many people? Especially to those who are old enough to remember when ''next gen'' actually meant something?
@Ravix It kind of amuses me that in 2024 people are still bragging about 40-60 FPS being some kind of achievement to aim for when there are 104 PS5 games that can hit 120. As can many average PCs.
@ShadowofSparta I believe the term is "Sony Pony". This is someone who has taken their love of their chosen commercial product of choice to a closed-minded or fanatical level. PC users are complaining, therefore we must defend. The idea that just maybe the corporation that they are defending might actually be in the wrong is unacceptable.
@Northern_munkey What I see is that 75% of the CURRENT console player base is not buying physical. That is a year on year increase despite people in comment sections such as these prophesying doom every time the conversation comes up.

Cool. Blizzard can now rip me off in 4K.

Sounds like a buy. I always preferred Silent Hill 3 myself though, I found Heather to be a more interesting character.

To paraphrase Angry Joe: "$54.99 for BLUE??"
Spend your money on what you like. But to me, spending that amount of money just to make your console "friggin' blue" seems like a waste.
Re: PLAY, the Last Bastion of PlayStation Print Media, Has Reached Its Final Issue
Is print media archaic - a relic of a bygone age? Or is it just because it is too expensive to justify?
I get why costs spiralled. But when your choice is PushSquare for free or OPM for 8 quid then the choice is obvious.
It is very sad though.. A lot of good childhood memories there.

Youtube used the exact same excuse quite a few times whilst they were testing getting rid of the dislike bar and bringing in unskippable ads.
