Re: PS5 Fans Believe Halo Could Make Its PlayStation Debut

Halo on PS5 is bordering on absolute at this point. The console wars are over and have been for a long time.

I would however wait for a sale to buy them. In my opinion, the earlier games that everyone raves about really have not aged well. And the later titles seem to be the very definition of 7/10 from what I've experienced of them.

Just to throw in my two cents regarding the main character. I do not believe that anyone beyond the most egregious sexist cares that she is a woman.

My problem is that I'm just kind of sick of playing these morally grey antagonists. I like playing the hero - or at least the everyman. Too many games today expect me to connect with someone who is a piece of trash and I just cannot do that. GTA is the exception purely because Rockstar have some of the best writers in the industry.

Re: PS5 Fans Want to Protest Against New User Interface Advertising

LifeGirl

Sorry. But anyone here who thinks that advertising on the homepage or even in-game ads isn't on the way is deluding themselves. There is too much money in it and Sony have consistently proven themselves to be anti-consumer enough to do it.

It is all about baby steps as they test the waters. Once upon a time the biggest gaming controversy was horse armour. Now we have games making hundreds of millions from the scummiest practices imaginable.

@NxtDoc I know what you mean about the ''it'' factor.

Sony's problem - and it has had this for a long time - is that it does not have a mascot aka a household name in which people automatically link to the brand. Nintendo has Mario and Zelda, Xbox has Master Chief, Sega has Sonic, but Sony has never quite managed it.

I think that they are trying VERY hard with Aloy but I just do not believe that they have succeeded. The closest that they ever got imo was with Crash Bandicoot back in the 90s.

Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

So if I'm reading this correctly, 44% of people who answered a poll on a PLAYSTATION FANSITE do not plan to buy it?

That is a colossal number. That is like 44% of people on a Manchester United fansite planning not to buy a ticket. Something has gone seriously wrong somewhere.

@get2sammyb "Yes, and it's ridiculous".

What's ridiculous about that? The idea that people could get worked up about it or the scenario itself? Because frankly, if it's the former, then i find it very hard to believe that someone who is one of the main writers for a video game fansite can not understand how and why people get emotionally attached to fictional characters.

Some people take it too far. Yeah, sure. But ridiculous? Absolutely not.

"and difficulty spikes mean it really shows its age."

Thats a modern gamer sentence if I ever heard one lol. Games used to get more difficult as the levels went on, it was called progression.

"and the controls can be initially tricky to work out".

They're not. They're really not. This is your classic "press X to do anything" kind of game. Aim joystick up, press X, worm dies. Aim joystick forward, hold X, worm dies.

@ShadowofSparta I believe the term is "Sony Pony". This is someone who has taken their love of their chosen commercial product of choice to a closed-minded or fanatical level. PC users are complaining, therefore we must defend.
The idea that just maybe the corporation that they are defending might actually be in the wrong is unacceptable.
