Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

LifeGirl

@jrt87 Yep. That really is the dividing line between PS newcomers and veterans. If you remember the PS1, PS2, PS3 or even lets be honest the PS4, there is nothing to cheer about today beyond a handful of titles. And STILL - all of these years later - it is missing features that came standard in the past.

It is why the Pro is such a lacklustre looking investment especially when for that price you can build a very respectable gaming PC. Put down 200 more and you'll build something that completely outstrips it. Sony really has dropped the ball in recent years.

Re: Concord Dev Could Close After Director of PS5, PC Disaster Steps Down

LifeGirl

@naruball Black Myth Wukong had something else that Concord did not have. OK... pucker up now because I am about to lay down some real powerful knowledge here that may be about to shock and astound you: Black Myth Wukong is a good game. Concord is not. And that supersedes anything else.

I never said the Concord failed because of its characters - you assumed I did. But it is a multiplying factor. Multiply zero (with zero being a flawless game) and you get zero. Multiply one hundred with one hundred and what do you get?

This is a very simple, very easy to understand concept. Crap upon crap makes something even more crap. Crap upon gold makess dirty gold.

Re: Concord Dev Could Close After Director of PS5, PC Disaster Steps Down

@naruball An anti traditional beauty agenda for one.

It is hard to look at this selection of characters that does not include a single piece of beefcake or cheesecake and think anything else. There is nothing inclusive about a game that is clearly ignoring certain types of people. "Fat man with effeminate face and terrible haircut" was never going to cut the mustard, I'm afraid. Nor was "Fat Albert in a Doomguy cosplay".

Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

LifeGirl

Besides which, a lot of old games that still play well look TERRIBLE today. Almost unplayable in some cases.

I would include pretty much everything from the PS1 on this list. I grew up with these games and yet if all of those jagged, blurry polygons look horrible to my eyes, they must be causing physical pain to someone from Gen Alpha.

A lot of great games from the past are going unplayed because in 2024 they suck. Simple as that. The recentTimesplitters re-releases are excellent proof of that actually.

@Arnna "Or are you one of the sad neckbeards that defends sexual infantilisation and other gross s***."

You have yet to prove that infantilisation is a thing beyond some nebulous "look at what the Japanese are into" which comes off as actually rather bigoted tbh.

And as for "dominated by men", I follow numerous women on YouTube and Twitch who play games. I'm sorry to tell you this, but it ain't 1998 anymore. Women are everywhere in our community now.

Assertions require proof and I am seeing precious little of it right now.

Re: Yoshi-P Pleads for Modder Restraint Ahead of Final Fantasy 16 PC Launch

LifeGirl

@Arnna Do you have any proof of that 99% figure beyond your presumed stereotypes?

Also, "infantilising women and children"? Where the heck did that you pull that nonsense from? The last thing that I'm thinking when i look at a woman with a huge pair of uncovered knockers is "infantalised". That is the purest definition of an adult female.

Re: Vince Zampella Confirms Battlefield Will Return to Modern Setting

LifeGirl

No one cared that your game wasn't "modern" as proven by the fact that Battlefield 1 sold like hot cakes.

The problem came predominantly from your TERRIBLE creative decisions. From the mediocre like Hardline, to the agenda driven slop that was Battlefield V, to the broken farce that was 2042.

But perhaps your biggest mistake of all? Using the phrase "If you don't like it don't buy it" to millions of disgruntled customers. Because not only did they take that advice in droves but many of them never came back again afterwards.

Re: Blizzard Reportedly Made $150 Million in Diablo 4 Microtransactions

LifeGirl

@Medic_alert I'm so glad that I was born when I was. I was there for the birth of pretty much every award winning franchise. I was there for every innovation, every shread of progress, every giant leap forward.

Kids today do not know what they missed. It is why they have been lead to believe that somehow Sony is blessing them with a console that has slightly sharper leaves on a tree.

Re: Feature: PS5 Pro's Been Clowned on By the Entire Internet, and the Memes Will Make You Laugh

LifeGirl

@naruball And I do not believe them. If you can afford a $500 piece of kit, then you can save and buy an $800 piece of kit. That is the equivalent of five full-priced games and I bet that most of us here have five full-priced games.

Let's be honest what this really is all about: People are questioning the VALUE of $800, not the FEASIBILITY of $800. That little voice in the back of your head that whines when you open up your wallet only ever starts up when you are lukewarm over a purchase.

Re: Freelance Artist Attempts to Redesign PS5, PC Flop Concord's Cast

LifeGirl

"We’re sure there are talented artists at Firewalk who would have had similar ideas, so we’re a little baffled as to why the game came out the way it did."

It is very clear as to why the devs took the decisions that they did when it comes to the art style - you just do not want to talk about it. And I do get it, I really do. You would be stepping into a minefield to talk about such things. But let's not pretend that it is "baffling" when it really is not.

Re: Freelance Artist Attempts to Redesign PS5, PC Flop Concord's Cast

LifeGirl

@GamingFan4Lyf Video game character design 101: Make them cool or make them sexy.

It really, really is that simple. Let us all be very clear about one thing here. If the cast of Stellar Blade was on the front cover of this game then Concorde would right now be flying off the shelves.

It is not an "Internet thing". It is a "human nature thing". We love kicking ass as cool people and we love kicking ass whilst staring at hot people. And the original Concorde characters were universally none of these things which is in part why it failed.

Re: 25 Years Ago, Square Released the Best Final Fantasy Game

LifeGirl

The protagonists of FF8 suffer from the same problem as the protagonists of FF15: there is no diversity. And I do not mean that in the way that a lot of people use that word today.

In my opinion, FF is at its best when you have a group of assorted yet interesting weirdos banding together to go on an adventure. Where is my blue cat man? Where is the dude with a chocobo in his hair? Where is my Vivi like black mage?

Apart from Laguna, these characters are boring and just not fun to play as. Squall gets better but for half of the game his dialogue is basically "..."

And with the exception of Squall and Seifer, even their clothes are boring. They are just wearing normal 90s' street clothes. You do not see too many FF8 cosplays besides those two guys for a reason.
