Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta?

@DennisReynolds I agree that it feels slightly dumbed down due to them taking away monster evidence and clues away and then slapping a monster icon onto the monster itself while also having green light bug trails. Other than that? It feels like your typical monster hunter with slightly more focus on story

@DennisReynolds If they really wanted to be heavily focused on the story they wouldn't be making their actors give such weak performances and give more story over the recent gameplay being shown. So far of what we have played with the beta it is your typical Monster Hunter game with the environment playing a bigger role during gameplay.

@DennisReynolds You are aware that is how the beginning of MHW was right or have you misremembered? Long cutscene introducing the characters, setpieces of climbing Zorah Magdaros, and then goes back to hunting monsters starting with Great Jagras. Wilds isn't any different, we have long cutscene introducing the characters, setpiece of riding our seikret to save a kid and then go back to hunting monsters starting with Chatacabra. I'm really confused why you're so fixated on that considering Capcom hasn't exactly been heavily advertising this game as STORY HEAVY, most of what they've been advertising has been the gameplay of hunting monsters.

@ButterySmooth30FPS It's the intro part of the game and that's usually where a game will have a lot of story and setpieces to get you interested in the game just like World(First time impressions are important). Don't expect a good or interesting story out of a Monster Hunter game though. Stories are just there to give an introduction to most of the monsters.

@Judal27 Yup, essentially Guiding Lands but as a full game. It seems Guiding Lands was Capcom's own little test to making it work even if it looked pretty goofy. Pretty happy that it actually plays well(Although I changed Performance mode as soon as I saw it super blurry, I would imagine that this is the demo build shown off to journalists).

Yeah I played it yesterday and had a lot of fun with it. I'm sad about the monster clues and evidence being gone, but I'm still enjoying it a lot and especially the character creator. Still need to test out charge blade and great sword and then I am good to go.

@Matroska @Bez87 There's definitely a time where I was very spoiled by new age stuff as well and it was during the PS4 era where anything that had the best looking graphics was the best thing ever for me. Overtime I'm caring about that less and less about that and focus more on the art style and gameplay and if the game is super old I'll usually try to think about how it was played back then since devs had more limitations. You're definitely not wrong about certain games holding up differently like MGS 1 held up extremely well and that shocked the hell out of me and then I decided to try out Metal Gear 1 and oh boy I didn't particularly get far into that lol. So maybe The Thing won't hold up that well for me, but I'll just have to check it out later.

@Bez87 So try to be in the shoes of a person that is in that time. I didn't think I would enjoy MGS1 because it had such old and ugly graphics and then I played it and I actually had fun with it to the point where I beat it and continued on to play MGS 2 and now I even want to play Silent Hill 1.

Re: Poll: One Year Later, How Would You Rate Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5?

Nepp67

I enjoyed it but multiple things held it back for me, for one it was playing it too safe with with activities(I skipped it when I did everythingin the first game), the stealth was a downgrade(Stealth tools are gone for some reason) and very easy to exploit the AI(Since they are too stupid to look up, the ending bossfight, MJ being overpowered against trained soldiers of Kraven, the ending bossfight being anticlimactic, and the Venom not being long enough.
