Here's the thing, assuming it's ten times as expensive as a regular skin, if only 10% of the regular spenders buy it, then it's the same profit for them as releasing a regular skin. If more people buy it, it's more profitable than a regular skin.

Sony doesn't really do holiday games, so I think late August to early October.

@itsfoz Show a trailer now, then people expect another one in two months, and another one before release, and a launch trailer, and more.

It's a sequel, so you know more or less what to expect. I assume they just don't want to spoil too much, so why reveal stuff now, when you can also wait until it's a month or two away from release?

Played the game for a couple of hours, but I wasn't really impressed. I may get it one day when it's on sale, but not right now.

First one was good, Rise was more of the same, and Shadow was just boring. I stopped playing halfway through.

I expect controllers to get better over time, so this is no surprise. If the DualSense was "worse" than the DS4 we would've had a problem.

@RBMango Witcher 3 launched broken. Thronebreaker was broken and was literally unplayable for some (including me), Cyberpunk 2077 was a giant mess.

CP2077 wasn't the exception unfortunately. I've learned my lesson.

@JJ2 If you mean that it may look a little gamified, I agree. They need to understand that finding a secret passage on your own is ''better gameplay'' than killing 50 trolls with the same old spell. Not every game needs to be combat heavy to be enjoyable. But it's generally the easiest form of gameplay to implement.

I've encountered an invisible object in the overworld, even arrows get stuck in it. Don't know if it's a giant rock with Stalker powers or just a glitch, but I'm going to find out!

@MattBoothDev I don't know. Maybe when the servers are shut down twenty years from now, I can still play it on my PS5 without having to download anything.

@MattBoothDev You don't have to install the day one patch though. The game is perfectly playable without it.

@MattBoothDev It is though, isn't it? You don't get the PS5 version on the PS4 disc. You just get the PS4 version. If you want to play the PS5 version (higher resolution, frame rate, etc.) you need to download the patch.

And I wasn't planning on playing the PS4 version when I have a PS5.

Bought the PS5 version so that I don't have to rely on a patch to play the PS5 version, simple as that.

It's not really the same game. May as well buy digital then, but that's my point, I just want the physical PS5 version.

The 'problem' with this game is that it looks too detailed. It's very difficult to recognise the different pieces, so you have to hover over them to see what they are. I wish it was a little more stylised. Bigger pieces, with a smaller base, maybe some colour as well. They all look the same.

@Royalblues If previous games are to go by, there will be a disc-1 and disc-2. Insert the first disc and install those files, then it'll tell you to insert the second one and install the rest of the game. You also use the second one to play the game (like any other game).

@MatthewJP In all fairness, the discs and packaging isn't expensive at all, especially in bulk. Freight costs are also cheaper than you'd expect. And people forget that servers also cost money to keep up and running. I'd love to get the actual number on it one day though, but I don't the difference is more than a few dollars at most.

@PenguinL It's not that expensive TBH. Generally a 120 piece set goes on sale for about $120 ($0.10 a piece is the general rule). Licensed sets can be more expensive. So all things considered, it's a pretty good deal.

@Shepherd_Tallon @Apfelschteiner It's just software, so it could even come as an update after launch if they don't get the deal done in time. I don't expect this will cause any delay of the hardware.

Bought the PS5 box, and don't really care. Won't play it on PS4 anyway.

@BeerIsAwesome Because it's profitable? Their option was continue the franchise as a multiplat and earn the revenue, or stop it all completely.

@Arcnail I think they made like 300-500 million profit on MTX annually. This deal pays itself in 10 years. If they can get them to develop more than just Destiny, possibly sooner. I think that's how they're looking at it. Long term strategy. MS plonked 70 billion down for Activision, that's more than Xbox made in profits throughout its 20 year life.

@thefourfoldroot Microsoft just spent more on a single acquisition than they've made in revenue with their Xbox division throughout the last 20 years. They don't care about money lol. Buy up everything and spoil your customers until there's no competition left.

@BeerIsAwesome Kinda true, but remember that MLB isn't really Sony's property. They pay for the license, and MLB demands the game to be cross-play. If it wasn't for them, it bet you it would've been a PS exclusive still.

Planet Coaster is alright, but I'm not going play that on a console.

@Alduin That kind of mentality will eventually lead to cheaper (i.e. less qualitive) games. If people refuse to buy games full price because of some sub that offers it to you for a dime, then don't expect large AAA games to be the norm in the future. That mindset will favour quantity over quality. You get what you pay for.
