Re: Horizon Forbidden West Is a Whopping 86GB on PS5

@itsfoz Who knows if they compressed the game at all. Maybe it's similar to the PS4 version. Maybe there's a bunch of unused data in the files they didn't bother to clean up.

Generally, file size doesn't tell you anything. Sekiro was only 12GB. Most devs aim for sub-50, so it fits on a disc, if that doesn't work they'll keep it below 100GB. It probably could've been smaller if they wanted.

Re: Will Call of Duty and Other Activision Blizzard Games Come to PS5, PS4?

@Ralizah Which is kinda silly, because all Nintendo does is prevent other platforms from enjoying their content (not saying I disagree), but it's been long touted that the ''best'' approach is to allow as many people to enjoy your games as possible. Though you never hear anyone asking for Mario on PC, so maybe it already works for them.

Re: We're Sure Everyone Will Be Calm About SEGA NFT Trademark

@Integrity A video game wouldn't use stolen assets.

And the point of owning an NFT isn't so much about the JPEG that's attached to it, but it's more about the unique blockchain data unit behind it. It's that unique data string you can sell. It's crypto currency, except that every unit has its own fluctuating value, much like art, hence why JPEGs are often attached to NFTs.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't buy it, nor do I see the point of NFTs in gaming, but if Activision wants to sell you an NFT with a one of a kind skin attached to it, I don't see the difference with regular MTX.

Re: Video: Convincing a Nintendo Fan to Buy a PS5

@eltomo PS5 seems like such a small upgrade, but whenever I boot up my PS4, it just feels archaic. The DS4 feels to the DualSense what a controller without rumble would feel to the DS4, like there is missing something. I don't miss the load times either! I'm glad I managed to get one day one.

Re: Nothing to Announce on PSVR2 Backwards Compatibility, Says Sony

@nessisonett There's also the fact that I don't think you'll be playing using the DualSense. Those cameras on the headset track those new controllers, the button layout is very different, and there isn't even a swipe pad on it. Games like Astro Bot not only use all those buttons, they also use the actual DualShock 4 in-game. The swipe pad is also like THE button to use in Astro Bot.

Re: Rumour: The Last of Us Remake Almost Complete, Out This Year

@Barryburton97 I wonder if they would use the cast of the TV series in the remake. I doubt it. But it would make it a little more worthwhile. Also, if the story slightly deviates from the game, and follows the TV series. Like an alternate spin-off version or something. At least then it's not 100% the same game.

@BritneyfR_ee Oh come on! TLOU has always been a series with high stakes. Remember the opening episode with Sarah? Or Tess, just when we got to know her? Henry and Sam?

They went out of their way to do something different instead of another Joel & Ellie adventure, and I appreciate that. The first game was about Joel & Ellie establishing a friendship, that was accomplished, there was little character development left between the two, and we still got plenty of them during the flashbacks.

Re: Horizon Call of the Mountain Is Your First Glimpse of PS5's Next-Gen PlayStation VR2

@gaston Whilst I do think it'll be a fully-fledged game, I don't think it's going to be Horizon in VR. It will probably be more linear. Like I said, I think the main goal is climbing a mountain. A clear beginning and end goal. I assume those new controllers can be use for advanced climbing controls, and some bow & arrow combat along the way. I think that having a lot of the movement being vertical should also help reducing the motion sickness. But what do I know! Hah

Re: Horizon Call of the Mountain Is Your First Glimpse of PS5's Next-Gen PlayStation VR2

I assume that was just part of a cutscene. Though maybe not the best reveal for VR then.

I assume you're going to be climbing a mountain. So they're going to play with heights. There surely will be bow and arrow combat, no? With those new controllers, that's only logical. But yeah, I definitely expect a VR version of a giant climbing wall, and you need to use the left and right controllers independently to grab ledges and such.

I highly doubt it will be a ''full'' open world game (and it doesn't have to be), but a more linear experience, which works a lot better in VR IMO.

If the PSVR2 launches with this game and some kind of Astrobot game, I'm all in!

Re: PS5's New PSVR Headset Officially Named PlayStation VR2, Full Specs Revealed

My only issue with the first one is that the screen is quite grainy, as if you're always looking through some kind of mesh or bug net. If they can also remove or decrease that, it would be great.

I think the increased resolution (x4), combined with a slightly higher field of view, and foveated rendering is going to help it be a lot more immersive. Also curious about the rumble, if it could also help with immersion, or if it's just there to mitigate motion sickness.

I will never forget that moment in Astro's Rescue Mission where seaweed was stuck on your face. Or the water levels in general. That was worth the headset alone IMO!
