Re: Poll: Was Sony's Latest State of Play a Show to Remember?

OmegaStriver

Better than I expected.

I enjoyed: GoW, Tekken 8, Hogwarts, and Project Eve. The rest was meh, games that are a generation or two behind. It’s probably due to their engines though. Japanese games used to be the ones that pushed everything forward. You would think small sandbox’s and corridors worlds would look better.

Re: Talking Point: Is Assassin's Creed Moving in the Right Direction?

OmegaStriver

I’m imagine I have an uncommon opinion on the subject of how I want a majority of games to go.

I want improvements to animation, small details, AI and general world improvement. That doesn’t mean I want bigger worlds. It feels like it’s to the point to where we are getting games now over and over that are very similar to each other. The biggest difference being a different protagonist and world.

Back in the day, games really felt like they were improvements over the previous edition. Now, they are less improved and just slightly different.

Re: Reaction: Publishers Are Getting Worse at Nintendo Direct-Style Livestreams

OmegaStriver

My kids and I watched the Marvel one and I was surprised by how many phone games were shown. The next day, we starting watching the Ubisoft show. When they got to their 2nd or 3rd phone game I just shut it off and would look it up after it was over and decided to play Rocket League instead. I don’t give a damn about phone games.

GRANTED, I’m getting to the point to where I’m accepting that hardcore gamers are NOT the focus in the entirety of gaming anymore. I find myself getting more and more disappointed year after year with being a long time video game fan. Even with Sony it feels like they care more about their PC and PS4 owners than they do with their PS5 owners.

When it comes down to it, hardcore or traditional gamers, whatever you want to call us are NOT the focus anymore.

Re: PlayStation Bites Back At 'Inadequate' Call of Duty Offer from Microsoft

OmegaStriver

Lol. Microsoft trying to prove they are not forming a video game monopoly and all these people screaming buy everything and make it exclusive.

Also, there is a difference between Sony buying smaller studios and Microsoft buying big publishers and their studios.

Also, people saying Sony made many games exclusive but the truth is Microsoft passed up on many of the opportunities, like, Spider-Man for instance. The games only exist because Sony gave them the go ahead.

There is so much disinformation going around.

Re: Housemarque Appears to Have Confirmed PC Port of Returnal During GDC 2022

OmegaStriver

@LiamCroft Just looked it up, it’s likely to come to GamePass. The director/owner/whatever said he’s buddies with Phil and could see it coming after it gets a little time to sale traditionally. So, I imagine it will probably be on it within 6 months after release. So, I can wait.

You were right though. I had read on other sites it was coming. I guess they were wrong. Plague Tale and High on Life will be nice though.

I’ve been catching up on some titles I missed. Gears of War Judgement, I am Fish, Killer Instinct, Forza Horizon 5, State of Decay 2, Sunset Overdrive, and Sea of Thieves mostly. On my PS5, I’ve been enjoying Dying Light 2 especially since I waited for all of the patches. Been playing Rollerdrome, and Midnight Fight Club or whatever it’s called. Borderlands 3 is waiting for me as well.

That all sounds like a ton, but I haven’t spent that much time on any of them. Life gets in the way. I definitely have enough to keep me busy until GoW2. Then that will be my focus, except for when I game with my kids. I spend a lot of time on Rocket League, Apex, and Fortnite with them.

Re: Housemarque Appears to Have Confirmed PC Port of Returnal During GDC 2022

@Would_you_kindly. I with you, but, you have to accept this isn’t the Sony that made the PlayStation super successful. The people that focused on their hardcore fan base are gone. I dislike all the changes that are occurring with PlayStation. I don’t like how Sony is silent with their customers. I don’t like that the PS5 is not their focus, it’s PC and PS4. I don’t like how the best talent is wasted on remakes/remasters. I don’t like that PlayStation is starting to focus on GaaS and micro transactions. I dread to see the state of gaming by 2032.

That all sounds very negative but I’m in pretty good spirits. I don’t like all that crap I mentioned, but, it is what it is. PlayStation has been enough for me since I sold my 360 and bought a PS3. Now though, PlayStation doesn’t release enough that interests me or keeps me busy. I beat all of PlayStation’s 2022 releases months ago, not including Stray. I beat it soon after it released. I’m mostly waiting for the next big experience. That’s GoW2. There is nothing about TLoU that interests me. I beat it multiple times 8 or so years ago.

So, I find myself waiting for the next big thing. To fix that, I bought a Series X to fill in the time that PlayStation leaves open. It’s been really nice catching up on so many games I’ve missed. Now with GamePass I don’t have to buy Plague Tale 2, The Calisto Protocol (edit: calisto is not coming day one) and High on Life when they release.

My advice is just to quit caring as much. Accept that what made us enjoy the PlayStation just doesn’t exist like it use too. Their most dedicated fans are not their focus. It’s crazy that they’ve dominated the video game market yet they are trying their best to mimic Microsoft’s Xbox strategy.

People will read all this and think I’m crazy or whatever but I have a buddy that’s so pissed that GoW2 is not a true PS5 game that he refuses to buy it until it goes on sale. He says F them. His PS5 can collect dust. Like I said, I’m to the point to where, it is what it is. I’m buying it. Probably will end up splitting it with him so neither of us have to pay full price.

Well, this helped me to kill some time. Thanks.

Re: Digital Foundry Tech Review Shows Just How Far The Last of Us: Part I Has Come

OmegaStriver

Still a definite waste of talent of one of the best studios out there.

It already takes years for new games to release and now those years are delayed further by using some of the best in the industry on what should have been an outsourced project. I don’t care that this started as another studios project that failed, it shouldn’t have gone to Naughty Dog. You’ll probably want to respond that it was a good training project for the PS5. The PS5 is very similar to the PS4. Please don’t buy into that these people needed training. Then you hear it was a good project in between projects. If that’s the truth, Naughty Dog leadership needs to be fired.

Re: Sony: Efforts Beyond PS5, PS4 Do Not Diminish Our Passion for Amazing Single Player Games

OmegaStriver

Well, I feel like Sony isn’t as good as they once were and that pushed me to buy a Series X this past week. I feel like the wait for Sony’s best games were getting longer and longer. So, I pickup an Xbox to fill in the gaps.

Sony abandoning Evolution, Japan and some of their other franchises like Infamous, Uncharted, Resistance, pushing unneeded remakes, feeling like they are focusing on everything else but the PS5 has really pushed me away.

I haven’t owned an Xbox in 13 years and Sony is the reason I recently bought one.

Re: Cross Streams with Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed PS5, PS4 Gameplay

OmegaStriver

I would love a game based off of the old cartoon The Real Ghostbusters. I’m really shocked by how much Sony ignores this property. They could do so much more than what they have.

I’m planning to buy this game as long as it turns out to be a solid experience. I had that same plan for Saints Row but I ended up putting it on the wait for sale list.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Saints Row?

OmegaStriver

I had every intention of buying it day one as long as it was as good as 2 or 3, but reviews said otherwise.

I’m going to buy it but it will be when it’s on sale. If it had launched at 40$ I’d bought it still day one. Now though, by November I’ll only buy it for 25$ or less.

Re: Poll: Was Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022 Any Good?

OmegaStriver

This biggest issue that I have with games today is that while being somewhat high quality the VAST majority just run together and I can’t remember what is what or what name belongs to which game.

Nothing really stands out, so many remind me of other games. That everywhere game gave me Fortnite vibes and some other one reminded me of a combination Destiny and Warframe.

Re: Devolver Debunks Ludicrous Rumour Claiming Sony Paid to Keep Cult of the Lamb Off Xbox Game Pass

OmegaStriver

Yesterday some reputable Twitter games journalists started to run with the story that Embracer had also bought the rights to Infamous, Sly and something else from Sony.

They were linking Wario64.

I noticed his Twitter @ was different. His name and profile was Wario64 but his at was Warlo64.

I told them you guys are quoting a fake account. They deleted them.

I have no pull on Twitter but these guys with a decent following need to watch for that crap when they are stating news.

Re: Sony Expands PlayStation Homepage for PC Games

OmegaStriver

I now own a Steamdeck and can play PlayStation games on the go, but I still NOT a fan of Sony diluting the worth of owning a console. I still prefer console actually having exclusives. Now, with Sony having a PC mindset, they’ll most likely develop games with low PC tech in mind and not actually utilize the PS5. Just like how the PS4 has hindered the PS5.

Re: Shuhei Yoshida Talks Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Siren in Insightful Interview

OmegaStriver

It’s an unpopular opinion but I believe the PS3 generation is easily the best ever and it’s been SLOWLY downhill ever since.

The PS3 had:

Uncharted games
Resistance games
Motorstorm games
Little Big Planet games
Infamous games
Sly Cooper
God of War
Puppeteer
TLoU
GTA 4&5
Red Dead Redemption
Bioshock games
Demon & Dark Soul games
Spec Ops The Line
Split Second
Tomb Raider games
TMNT and Double Dragon 2d games
Spelunky

And a ton more I’m forgetting.

Man, I really miss the 360/PS3 generation. Hell, even Microsoft had some of their best games then.
