Re: Sony Increasingly Focused on PS5 Playtime Alongside Hardware Sales

OmegaStriver

The Twitter console war is ablaze with people using this as ammo.

I simply reply this is bad news. Any company focusing on this is wanting you to live in a game and all this means is less innovation and new experiences and more of, what can get people addicted to our game? Just a larger attempt at ripping off Fortnite, COD, etc.

Re: PS5 Fans Mostly Happy with Sony's Third-Party Deals, But PlayStation Studios Need to Step Up

OmegaStriver

I haven’t owned an Xbox since the 360, my buddy never has. We both bought a Series X two years ago due to the lack of 1st party output by Sony.

Don’t misread that. We still have PS5s, but we bought Xboxs to go with them, when we haven’t for years or ever.

Even now, I still believe the PS5 generation is easily the worst PlayStation generation ever.

The PS3 experience absolutely destroys the PS5.

Uncharted 1-3
TLoU
Resistance 1-3
Motorstorm 1-3
Infamous 1-2 and Vampire DLC
Killzone
God of War Asc and 3
Little Big Planet 1-3
Puppeteer

and many more along with many fantastic 3rd party titles.

You read all that and it sounds like im miserable. Im not. I enjoy gaming, but it peaked during the 360/PS3 gen and has slowly gotten worse, tho still enjoyable.

Re: Talking Point: Have Sony's Third-Party PS5 Deals Made Up for Its Lack of First-Party Games?

OmegaStriver

@nomither6 I caught your sarcasm.

Now, lets look back to the PS3 generation.
Uncharted 1-3
Resistance 1-3
Motorstorm 1-3
LBP 1-3
TLoU
God of War Ascension and 3
Infamous 1-2 and vampire DLC
Gran Turismo
LBP Karting
Mod Nation Racer
The Puppeteer
Killzone

And more that don’t immediately come to mind and all the fantastic 3rd party titles introduced during that gen.

Spec Ops the Line
Bioshock 1-3
GTA4, Max Payne and GTAV
Demon Souls
Far Cry 3
Assassins Creeds

That was a fantastic gen.

I could easily keep going but decided to cut it short.

Re: Grounded (PS5) - Little Bites Pack a Big Punch

OmegaStriver

Im not a fan of survivor games but I absolutely loved this game and highly recommend it.

I loved the world and exploring it. I love the characters and the story was very good overall as well. The gameplay was very enjoyable.

I know sea of thieves gets all the hype, but I enjoyed this way more than sea of thieves. Though it’s a good game as well.

Re: PS5, PS4 Ports of Xbox Survival Game Grounded Out Now

OmegaStriver

If you are a fan of Honey I Shrunk the Kids, I absolutely recommend buying Grounded. I’m not a fan of survival games, but I ended up absolutely loving Grounded. I love the world, the characters, the story, the creatures, the exploration, and the secrets. It’s easily one of my favorite Xbox games.

It’s fun playing solo and it’s great playing with friends. This game deserves to be a huge success. I know Sea of thieves gets all the glory, but I’m a bigger fan of grounded.

Re: New PS5 Pro Leak Points to Significant Graphics Push from Sony

OmegaStriver

@koverby

Traditionally I would buy it day 1.

I wanna share something that annoys the hell out of my friend and I.

Back in the day, there were always games/etc that we wanted to buy but money was an issue.

Now, we are both better off in our lives, money isn’t really an issue, but the game industry as a whole doesn’t tempt us enough to buy games, or things like a PS5 Pro etc. It’s annoying to have the money, but not the interest.

Re: New PS5 Pro Leak Points to Significant Graphics Push from Sony

OmegaStriver

Last gen I bought a PS4, PS4 Pro and then 2 PSVR headsets to complement the systems.

This gen I bought a PS5 and Series X.

I would have to be EXTREMELY impressed to even think about buying a PS5 Pro and ray tracing sure as sh*t ain’t it.

The only time ray tracing has impressed me was with Spider-Man.

Here the industry is pushing a PS5 Pro and it feels like Sony has BARELY utilized the PS5 itself and I’ve had the thing since day one.

I have ZERO hype for this.

Re: Random: The Brutal PS1 Driver Intro Even Bested F1 Pro Lewis Hamilton

OmegaStriver

I remember back then that it gave me a little trouble and slalom gave me trouble due to my age. Luckily, many games experimented in different types of games and I remember playing an Olympics game that had that word in it and I remember thinking that’s where you have to ski down between flags and maybe that means drive between the poles in this game. Luckily, I was right.

I ended up loving the game But the final mission was insanely difficult As well. I remember trying to beat it for a few hours. I was very angry and went to bed and when I got up the next morning I beat it on my first try. It was crazy.

Re: Majority of Immortals of Aveum Studio Reportedly Furloughed

OmegaStriver

I started it tonight and it absolutely hooked me straight from the beginning I was down with the Oliver twist vibes with an avenging tale.

Marketing for this game was horrible for me. Anytime I saw it. It was always showing gameplay which is fine and I thought it always looked fine but it never hooked me.

So far I’ve liked the characters, the world ,the graphics, the story, the gameplay, the exploration, the puzzles and I’ve liked the platforming.

If I knew I would’ve enjoyed it this much back when it launched I would’ve bought it day one or shortly after.

Re: Sony Allegedly Pausing PSVR2 Production Due to Surplus of Unsold Stock

OmegaStriver

I’m a pretty big fan of VR. I’ve owned a few PS VR‘s and oculus quests.

It likely wasn’t possible but they should’ve either skipped the PS five generation, or released it at a later date.

It was just really bad luck that the PS VR two released pretty much when the PS five really became available due to Covid and scalpers.

It’s crazy that the PS VR two‘s biggest competitor was the PlayStation five itself.

Just an FYI my typing looks a little weird because I did this by voice.

Re: Reaction: The Problem with PlayStation Right Now

OmegaStriver

I just want a modern day PlayStation 3 experience.

I want a fantastic game that offers 7 to 18 hours of gameplay with a tacked-on multiplayer.

I would be down for a new linear Resistance that ran around 11 hours with a multiplayer.

I would be down for a new Infamous in a smaller map with a linear story.

Whatever it takes to get costs down but games in my hands at a quicker pace.

Waiting 5-7 years for these 30+ hour games sucks. Take me back to the 3-4 year development times of smaller games. Uncharted two and three immediately come to mind.

Re: Xbox's Pentiment Is Out Now on PS5, PS4

OmegaStriver

@Decimateh-xblz Redfall is a solid game to me. I haven’t beaten it yet due to that I play it co-op with my kids and only play it when they are in the mood for it, though I would be happy to play it by myself.

The 60fps and advanced controls options patch has improved the experience.

It definitely gives Far Cry vibes if you are into that franchise.

Re: Xbox's Pentiment Is Out Now on PS5, PS4

OmegaStriver

@Decimateh-xblz The only game I haven’t played of the 4 is Pentiment.

1) Grounded
2) Sea of Thieves
3) Hi-Fi

They are all worth playing. I’ve actively played Grounded on and off for the last year. I’m really looking forward to their next update. I would have LOVED it as a kid. Hell, I love it now.

Re: Xbox's Pentiment Is Out Now on PS5, PS4

OmegaStriver

@Jayslow I’ve played a majority of those games and I highly recommend Grounded. It’s easily my favorite of the bunch.

Survival games are NOT my thing but It’s the best survival game I’ve ever played. I enjoyed the characters, voice acting, a legit story, the world, the sense of exploration that contributes to the upgrade system.

I beat 4 bosses of Hi-Fi rush and quit. It’s not for me. That took roughly 3-6 hours. I gave it a fair shake.

Grounded deserves way more attention and praise than it gets. It should have been huge.

I believe I heard there is another huge update coming for it in April and I’ll happily jump back in.

Re: Sony Predicts Slide in PS5 Sales with No Major Existing IPs Planned Before March 2025

OmegaStriver

I sure as hell miss how PlayStation was during the previous generations.

There is still a big part of me that thinks much of the PS5’s success is hugely due to the loyalty built with the previous generations. Hell, that’s why I bought 1 day 1.

The PS3 generation was something else.
Uncharted 1-3
Infamous 1-2&DLC
Resistance 1-3
2or3 Ratchet and Clanks
Motorstorm 1-3
Gran T
The Last of Us
Killzone
God of War 3
Little Big Planet 1-3

And more, The Puppeteer, etc.

This generation has be so disappointing in comparison.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About All of the Xbox Multiplatform Rumours?

OmegaStriver

Im a strong supporter of exclusives and feel that they are the driving factor for high quality and pushing the limits of the tech.

Im against Xbox or PlayStation being on each other’s consoles and for that matter, Im against either of their games coming to PC any faster than a year after their release.

Just an FYI, I own many consoles. PS5, Series X, Steamdeck and the Switch.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate the Latest State of Play Showcase?

OmegaStriver

It wasn’t for me.

I liked Judas.

Death Stranding, Helldivers, Dragons Dogma all looked decent.

The majority of the others reminded me a eastern/anime C level PS3 PS4 games.

The fact that Helldivers is rarely mentioned across multiple apps tells me that sucker is going to land with a thud. Hell, it’s barely mentioned in these comments.
