Re: Sony Has a State of Play Livestream for September, Rumours Suggest

OmegaStriver

@Ken_Kaniff PlayStation has kept my buddy and I busy for years with their first party output to where we’ve never felt like we needed to own Xbox’s.

We both bought Series X’s this past year to go with our PS5s just to have more games to play and GamePass had become very tempting.

Now, we are both thinking about dropping PSonline.

I’ve actually played on my Series X more lately than my PS5. Just in the past few weeks I beat Psychonauts 2 and Quantum Break. Many of Sony’s decisions pushed us to buying Xbox’s when neither of us has had one in over a decade.

Re: PS5 Fans Note Very Fast Start to 2024 Release Schedule

OmegaStriver

Hell, I’ve been playing my Xbox more than my PS5 lately. I beat Tinykin and am close to beating Psychonauts on Xbox due to GamePass because PS Studios haven’t given me a reason to return.

Im buying MK1 on PS though and will buy Spider-Man 2 as well. Otherwise, it’s been years since PS Studios have put out so few of games.

I don’t know what has happened to Sony, but their current outlook is VERY underwhelming.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PC Doesn't Actually Need an SSD

OmegaStriver

Basically, yes, you can use a HDD, but the desired experience that Insomniac desires for this game requires a SSD.

It’s like, many different games could be downgraded to work on worse hardware, but that’s not what its creators actually want or envisioned, but they have to do what their bosses say. R&C could probably be downgraded to work on a PS3, but it’s technically not the actual vision of the game.

Re: Rumour: Bungie Wants Marathon on PS5 to Be the Ultimate Live Service Game

@Tharsman I’m expecting companies to circle back to traditional multiplayer games that are GaaS. It will be traditional small/medium maps with TDM, CtF, and Capture Zone modes and they will release free new maps and modes over time while supporting a store and battlepass.

They will abandon multiplayer with big maps of battle royale and extraction. I believe a traditional route may be easier for them.

Re: PS5 Showpiece Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Jumps to the PC Dimension in July

I sure as hell won’t be in a hurry to get the next systems that release.

The PS5 has been a joke in comparison to all previous consoles. Don’t come at me with sell it then. I bought a PS5 day 1 based off of previous experiences, and expected similar experiences but it definitely hasn’t felt that way, so I’ll correct course when the PS6 launches. Unless, they really really sell me on it. I bought numerous systems for years day one, but going forward, they are going to have to really sell me on it.

I think the PS5 will crossgen into the PS6 gen longer than we’ve currently experienced and Sony will not push the limits of their games anymore to ensure that the games work easily across multiple platforms, especially PC.

Re: Phantom Blade Zero, the Awesome PS5 Action Game from PS Showcase, Sounds Too Good to Be True

Before I even read your article I thought that much of that trailer looked fake. There was too many animations that don’t exist in games like Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, Elden Ring and many others.

I’m not saying it isn’t possible, but those animations looked like qte or situational loaded animations. Like hitting square in one instance will do a three strike combo with the sword, but then next time it blends in a kick, it’s based on positioning.

Though, we have seen a few fantastic Chinese games in the last five years and none have released so far. So, keep expectations low.

Re: Sony Significantly Scales Back Development of The Last of Us Multiplayer for PS5, Says Report

OmegaStriver

I despise Bungie’s model and knew it would work out badly for us.

Bungie model:

Expensive game with limited content
Season Pass
Battlepass
Expensive Add-in’s
Removes content after you’ve paid for it.
And to go with all that crap, they push a store.

I despise the direction Sony is going.

Take note, Bungie didn’t like ND’s direction.

Bungie is the worst of old and new capitalism all rolled into one.

Re: Reaction: Sony's PS5, PC Live Service Strategy Won't Work If It's All Samey Shooters

OmegaStriver

The big question I haven’t seen publications ask is; Even though these GaaS games have been shutting down rather quickly, are they turning a profit? If so, these companies will not care. They may be heading toward the direction of quick output for a quick cash-in. I’m pretty sure Ubisoft said that Hyperscape was a huge success for them even though they shut it down quickly. The success of these games may not be based on how long they live, but if they can turn a quick profit. If so, these companies will continue throwing crap at the wall.
