Re: Microsoft Dealt Major Blow as UK Blocks Activision Buyout

Sakai

I was so looking forward to the end of this whole conversation. Now we may have another year plus of this.
Some experts already predicting the appeal will be successful, as the CMA have been 'irrational'
I just want off this merry go round and I am so bored of it all. Can't believe we have many more months of this

Re: CMA Expected to Rule in Favour of Microsoft's $69 Billion Acquisition of Activision Blizzard Tomorrow

Sakai

@Korgon I'm not sure Jim really dragged anything out, MS said originally on day 1 it would close by the summer 2023. They knew it was always going to be a slow process, you dont buy something thr size of ABK and not face scrutiny. All Jim really did was make PlayStation look stupid and all the terrible PR the last year. He should have signed months ago, if it is appproved

Re: Destiny 3 Begins Trending on Twitter As Fans Are Fed Up with Current Game

Sakai

I never understood why everyone called Bungie live service masters. They are masters of First Person Shooters, there is no doubt, along with ID. But they are truly awful at live service and even sunset content after you have purchased it. Even the pvp in Destiny is rubbish. They are more a study case of what NOT to do in a live service game. They are really bad at it. I hope the next game is not live service and they stick to what they are good at

Re: Horizon's Burning Shores Are Vast, Roughly a Third of the Size of Forbidden West

Sakai

@Amnesiac Glad you liked it, for me personally it went to far into nonsensical sci-fi, and it just kind of lost me if that makes sence. Zero Dawn had a much more interesting story, and I hope they look to that for inspiration regarding the next one. But I still enjoyed the game as a whole, enough to get the platinum in Forbidden West, just like i did for Zero Dawn. I am more of a gameplay before story person anyway. Once I finish Raganarok il be sure to check out Burning Shores and see if the story appeals to me more. Hope you enjoy the DLC aswell

Re: Horizon's Burning Shores Are Vast, Roughly a Third of the Size of Forbidden West

Sakai

@middyone I cant be wrong, its my opinion. I still liked the game and got the platinum, like I already said. It is entirely possible to enjoy a game and still dislike certain aspects or elements, and hope they are better for the next game. You obviously didn't read enough reviews, heres a snippet from Eurogamer, the very first review i checked:

"A lot of what hasn't improved - or has, in places, become markedly worse - is connected to the story. Aloy travels west because she's trying to find a working copy of the sentient computer that's been running earth. Let's just sit with this sentence for a moment. Enjoying Horizon always meant accepting the inherent video game-y ridiculousness of its premise, but given how much work Guerrilla put into Horizon's world-building, I felt there was almost something akin to a balance there. It was fun to discover where things came from along with your protagonist, and the answers she found were silly but just believable enough.

But that thrill of discovery is now mostly gone, and what we're left with is the story of a world that's dying because someone didn't debug it regularly. Much of Forbidden West's narrative issues are frustratingly embargoed, but know that at times it will go fully off the rails into wild, nonsensical sci-fi. Its ending is tedious and anticlimactic. Before you get there, you'll encounter some oddly pro-military cringe, oodles of "don't ask" logical leaps, and antagonists almost entirely devoid of personality and, strangely, screen time. In other words, Forbidden West successfully manages to undermine most of what was interesting and fun about Zero Dawn's story, because the deeper you look into things, the more you get confronted with pseudo, sci-fi fantasy stuff that even in a video game is difficult to take seriously - and oh, does it want to be taken seriously."

Re: Ghostwire: Tokyo Is 'Quantifiably' Better on PS5 Than Xbox Series X|S, Says Digital Foundry

Sakai

@Wheatly It has been a mess on PS5 as well since launch. Here is DF summary of the PS5 version:

"In summary, there's much to commend Ghostwire: Tokyo - but I do feel more work needs to be done. Controller response needs to be looked at, while the game's 30fps cap implementation really should be fixed: as we understand it, this problem was solved in UE4 years ago, so why it presents as it does in Ghostwire: Tokyo is a bit of a mystery. The 60Hz performance mode isn't very stable and seems to be waiting for VRR to happen when perhaps a dynamic resolution scaling system should be introduced (or ranges adjusted if it is in there already). The game isn't quite what I was expecting but it's clearly a quality release - it just needs a little more technical polish to allow the gameplay to shine."

Its a shame none of the issues were sorted for both the PS5 and Series consoles. They probably moved onto the next game and a small team ported it to xbox would be my guess. But that is not really an excuse in my opinion and I would have hoped it ran as well as HiFi Rush

Re: Poll: How Was Final Fantasy 16's State of Play Showcase?

Sakai

I am torn. I like some of what I see, I am a big Devil May Cry fan, but this is really not Final Fantasy, at all. It doesn't even look like an rpg tbh. I just hope the combat is as deep as Devil May Cry and not a cut back basic version, or what's the point.

The other suprising thing was how "forspoken" the environments look, doesn't scream next gen.

Still cant decide if it's going to be amazing or dissapointing. We will find out soon enough

Re: 16 Games Hit PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week

Sakai

@Titntin Is Riders Republic good then? I missed it because I'm not a big ubi fan, but its cheap on Amazon and I usually like snowboarding games. Shaun white on 360, 1080 on n64, cool boarders on PlayStation, ssx tricky on gamecube, all good games

Re: Resident Evil 4's PS5, PS4 Sales in the UK Leave Xbox to the Los Ganados

Sakai

Why not celebrate a games success instead of fanboy baiting headlines like this? Not really a good look tbh.

65% is about expected, there is more ps4 and 5s around, did anyone really expect anything else? We usually see higher numbers before digital is included, so it's no suprise and confirms the numbers are closer when they are included

Well done Capcom, I look forward to playing it when I have some time.

Re: PS5 Accounts for Over Half of All Console Sales in the UK This Year

Sakai

@4kgk2 the UK is not really PlayStation territory. Its the closest market in the world

"The UK games industry is the most competitive console market in the world. Over the last 10 years, Xbox, PS and Nintendo have all led the market at one point.

Last year, Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch all had over 30% market share each (GfK data)

In terms of PS4 vs Xbox One, 57% of sales were for PS4 and 43% for Xbox One. On PS5 vs Xbox Series it's pretty much the same (56% vs 44%). It's close"

Congratulations to PlayStation, some impressive numbers indeed

Re: This PlayStation Patents Terminology Row Is the Stupidest Story in Games

Sakai

Nobody should be surprised at PlayStations lack of class and etiquette after the way they have behaved in the whole ms/abk deal. Has nobody been reading their submissions to the eu/cma aswell? This is hardly news anymore, its expected. It's pretty embarassing but not a surprise at all. But it doesn't really mean a great deal either, their PR has been in the bin for well over a year now

Re: PS5 Remote Play Handheld Purportedly Pegged for November

Sakai

If it includes cloud gaming aswell as remote play, supports geforce now/xcloud and is a reasonable price I will be there day 1. Genuinely interested. Have been thinking of getting a Gcloud for a little while as my wife and kids all game, and time on the OLED can occasionally be difficult

Re: Soapbox: PSVR2 Already Feels Like It's on Course for Failure

Sakai

Whoever didn't see this happening, even before launch, must of had their eyes and ears closed. It was about as obvious as it gets. They won't release it on PC, as they are loosing money on the HMD and make it up with software sales. Making it work on PC means they wouldn't make that money back, so it won't happen

Re: U.S. Senator Says Sony Has 'Monopoly' on High-End Japanese Game Market

Sakai

Stupid things being said by everyone it seems. What is Kotaku talking about.

"Sony doesn’t even have a 98% share of the God of War market, a series they own, since Steam is getting 30% of every sale on PC."

This makes absolutely zero sence to me. One is about market share and the other is about profit/equity split. Two totally different things. Do they even realise the stupid definition of the market was manufactured by the FTC
