It would seem their biggest concern is Romanian devs not being able to publish games on Playstation. I'm not sure why Romanian devs would be excluded, but they have been enough that the RCC deemed it necessary to note. I think the other issue with digital games is secondary to them and was used as the primary factor due to wanting other countries to join the fight. We'll see what happens, but I'd like to hear more about why Romanian devs haven't been able to publish.

Sony had their show and screwed the pooch. None of you should be expecting anything from Sony that wasn't already shown at their own show. It would make zero sense for them to hold something back, weakening their own show, just to turn around two weeks later to reveal it, strengthening Jeff's show.

We'll see what happens. Hoping to see the likes of Mass Effect 5, Instinction, Tomb Raider, Dino Crisis reboot/remake, etc. I won't hold my breath.

Like MK1, I'll wait until Tekken 8 releases a full roster version.

I expect they'll see a severe drop in live viewership for the next. I know last week's show will be the last I bother watching live. I'll catch highlights after the fact from here on.

I'm guessing the majority of the games I'm looking forward too, this one included, will be skipping the PS5 gen entirely. Cyberpunk was announced at the start of the PS4 gen and came out at the end of the generation for the system. If we're lucky, this title may hit PS5 at the end of its lifecycle, but we'll see.

To earn those numbers they have to prove they have more up their sleeve than what they showed last week.

It's one of the best games of last gen. I truly hope the next installment will be on par, but we'll see.

I'll have to re-up my regular Plus account this year so this is probably the best time to do it. Regardless that I'm not a fan of modern gaming, there are still PS4 co-op games like Hunt and Destiny that I play with family and friends.

I'm over it. I played a lot of factions on PS3 but I have no desire to return to it. I think Naughty Dog has become the new Rockstar. Used to provide numerous incredible games during each generation and now we'll be lucky to see one from them that's only on the PS5 (not cross gen).

@RobN Going to disagree. I am a realist. I had a laundry list of things that would have had me hyped (nearing a dozen) and all they had to do was mention one of them. They showed almost nothing their studios have been working on expect what... a Payday clone and more Spiderman. It was a truly poor showing and I hope they feel it from their consumer base.

I won't bother buying a PS6 at launch, if ever. There are games coming that I'm excited for, but they are numbered. Once released, that'll be the end of me keeping tabs on modern gaming.

I bought the 3D Pulse Headset at launch with my PS5. They promised 3D sound. Wasn't impressed. Why buy these?

At this point, I'd say PS5 is the worst non-portable Playstation to ever be released. It's the best PS4... essentially being a PS4 Pro Pro... but as a stand alone system... it's the worst Playstation; feeling completely unnecessary.

Honestly, it feels like the entire point of the presentation was to announce this device... a Switch clone with less functionality due to needing to be near the PS5 to play anything... making it essentially useless as a portable gaming device.

I expect this will be around $200. I won't be bothering with it.

This was probably the worst Playstation showcase I can remember. They showed nothing of interest to me that was new. There was nothing making my PS5 purchase worth the price of admission. I can't believe they had so little to show they had to throw in a new trailer for the GT movie. Honestly... this was pathetic after two years of silence.

I only bothered with GTA V back on PS3. It's essentially been a decade since I last played the series and I honestly don't care to return knowing that it will be a glorified GaaS. I'd honestly be surprised if they bothered with a single player at all.

60% of their model is live service games? Then I'll lower my expectations for tomorrow's show by 60%... and it was already pretty low.

A different angle on this... anyone remembering when MK Deception launched on PS2 and Xbox? You got a second disc with MK1 or 2 on it and a Kollector's Kard that was metal. PS2 had Sub-Zero while Xbox got Baraka, Melina, and Scorpion. I think Raiden was on one of them as well. All depended on which store you bought the game at.

Just checked for the $110 physical copy of MK1 on Gamestop, you get only digital items and a steelbook. I think it'd be more enticing if they went with Kollector's Kards again. Maybe instead of metal, have a regular set with all the characters? Might be fun.

@KaijuKaiser You're incorrect. I'm giving a viewpoint on an aspect of the game that's relevant to this article. You want to talk just about the other aspects like how well MK will do? We know it will do well. MK has traditionally always done well. That's the extent of that conversation. Happy?

@KaijuKaiser I'm not a troll. I'm telling it how it is. I said my piece above and won't bother going further into detail from that aspect.

@FenIsMightier If you buy physical, you DO own the game. The exception is if you buy the disc to an online only game like Destiny, then you're at the behest of the servers being active. A game like MK, Uncharted, or anything else single player, you own it. Even if the publisher sent out a kill script to disable every install... all you have to do is disconnect said system from the internet and continue playing.

You own your copy of a physical game.

$110 for a digital version of a game you'll never own. Impressive what so many have become accustom into accepting.

@OmegaStriver Agreed. Are the devs just being lazy as hell? Are they not aware Sony only allocates a laughably small SSD? I mean hell, I've added an extra 1TB SSD, but still... a game taking 10% of 1TB should be considered unacceptable.

So... they went old school back when games HAD to be complete, polished, and ready on day one... before the always connected consoles stormed the scene. Nice.

I'm middle of the road. I have hope to see something of interest to me, but my expectations are severely low due to the last few years. Sony can either deliver in two days, or I'll basically be checked out of modern gaming and more than likely won't buy the next gen of systems (PS6/XB1000/Switch2).

I'm actually happy to hear this. FF has been hit or miss for me. I'll give the demo a shot and make a decision from there. Still looking forward to part 2 of FF7 Remake.

I don't think Sony has yet to release an "exclusive" day and date on Playstation and PC simultaneously. Once that occurs regularly, Playstation hardware sales will drop precipitously. I wouldn't be too surprised if at some point in the future, Sony simply releases their own line of Playstation graphics cards for use in PCs. They'll team up with one of the major graphics cards manufacturers making a PS6 or PS7 spec graphics card that can be boxed as its own product giving it the same spec as the console for that part. Who knows.

Perhaps this leaves hope that Reptile will show up in the base roster (hopefully more Ninja than Lizard).

There are few games worth owning (spending any actual money on) that release in today's realm of GaaS focused publishers/developers. Even fewer are worth the $70 asking price. Zelda TotK was one of the few worth it. I cancelled my preorder for Immortals of Aveum after seeing it was $70. It's an unproven new IP. It looks interesting, but only at $50 or less.

Not even the upcoming MK1 is worth $70 to me and I've been an MK fan for 30 years now. One of the reasons for this is because I know modern developers don't release completed games anymore. Especially fighting games, you get half the roster. The rest will be slowly released as overly expensive DLC.

Hopefully I see at least one announcement from Sony next week of a game deserving of the $70 asking price.

I'm not too surprised on this. Incredible first game set the bar high. Perhaps we'll hear of the sequel next year.

If that were to be the actual announcements, aside from Ghost of Tsushima 2 and maybe Twisted Metal, it's severely disappointing.

I enjoyed Uncharted GA, but I couldn't force myself to get into the dark narrative of Days Gone. We'll see what they have cooking next week, I guess.

Honestly wouldn't buy one. Sony has yet to make my regular PS5 worth the $500 I paid at launch.

Great trailer but not enough to make me buy day one. I'm a patient person having waited until last December to buy MK11 Ultimate (PS5). I ignored MK11 until a Komplete version released and even waited for a massive price drop on that. I'll more than likely do the same for this new title.

@theMEGAniggle I have nothing against Spain. My plan for travel was based around exploring old castles in Scotland, Ireland, and England. Given the way the world is on the brink of WW3, I may not get to do that either.

Death Stranding was a title that never interested me. It's on par with modern Playstation and what I expect from the upcoming Playstation showcase.

That's cool, but I'm nowhere near Spain and it wasn't on my want to visit locations for my bucket list. I'll have to watch from afar.

It'll be canceled the day before.

I want one of these to be shown or I'll simply give up on modern gaming:
