To be fair, EA and 2K get a lot more flack for their casino elements than the anime gacha games. It’s all a bit shady but I like football and Ultimate Team is practically the only mode in FIFA/EAFC that hasn’t been completely gutted. Never spent a penny more than what I paid for the game (too much, it’s pretty dire this year). Anyway play Balatro it’s amazing.
I should have more interest in this than I actually do. Elden Ring is probably top 5 all time for me but I still haven’t even got Erdtree cause it’s expensive.
The reality is that a bunch of classic games over the years wouldn’t fit their purity tests if they released today. Movies too. I cannot imagine being this miserable.
@tameshiyaku David Cage said that his games weren’t for ‘fags’ and that all female characters in his games were ‘whores’. I ultimately do not give one single iota if it’s unhealthy or weird to not like somebody that hateful.
Ok there’s a huge difference between product placement in movies and games. In movies, there’s products in scenes because those are filmed in the real world, which involves real objects. In this scenario, somebody’s job was to create 3D models of these products for the sole reason of advertising. If Porsche had created the prop for a movie, you can understand why it would have a Porsche logo, but this is a render created by an art team that isn’t Porsche and therefore the spaceship itself isn’t a Porsche. It’s infinitely more pathetic to actually create adverts out of thin air than it is to have already-existing products in a movie. Game looks decent outside of that.
Beyond disappointed that it’s just Sonic. Sega Racing Transformed is brilliant and Sega have a really wide group of people to stick in a game like that, more if you include Atlus and RGG Studio.
If Sony fully cut the disc drive then they’ll be sued into oblivion and forced to sell digital codes to other retailers. It’s either that or they pull out of the EU completely. Being happy about being locked into Sony prices is buffoon behaviour.
@NxtDoc What have you seen Tom Holland in that wasn’t a blockbuster? He’s an actual actor, brilliant in Wolf Hall despite his age and he was a superb Billy Elliott on stage. It’s a big claim to say that he’s a poor actor compared to other Spider-Man actors, you have to actually watch the good movies the three of them have made and not the rubbish.
Sony need to focus on original movies. Fund exciting new talent. Less of the IP slop. But of course they’ll churn out sh*te adaptations of games over the next 10 years, that’s what we’re in for.
@Balaam_ I would rather play a million glitch-filled games with heart like Morrowind than go anywhere near a polished but boring game. Refusing to go near glitchy games essentially rules out the entirety of the late 90s to 2000s on PC, when some of the best games ever made came out. There’s a limit but if the core game’s good then it’s worth it. And getting this annoyed by Todd Howard is like losing a game of chess to a dog.
@J2theEzzo Readability is essentially how easy it is to parse exactly what’s going on from a visual standpoint. Overwatch is the main one I played for years and that game worked hard to improve it over several updates, outlines, colour schemes for enemy teams and the like. The third person camera makes it difficult to spot certain smaller heroes anyway, Jeff is a bloody nightmare to spot especially when diving. They just need to tone down certain particle effects and add heavier outlines around the enemy teams I’d say.
Somehow missed the whole Nazi imagery and white supremacy stuff during development, along with the blatant homophobia from Square Enix London. What an insane story.
@Hyena_socks New Sniper Elite coming start of next year too! Big time for virtual Nazi hunting really. There’s absolutely zero political link to anything else happening in January at all.
@BushSwan The Overton Window sort of renders that entire philosophy moot. You can only lean centre in reference to what’s currently being offered in terms of ‘left’ and ‘right’.
(On topic, this game looks great and there only seem to be a couple outliers that aren’t as big on it, means consensus is generally positive)
I dunno, I’d rather they put effort into cultivating the grassroots than set up another big showy affair. Nintendo seemingly hate the scene so Sony have the opportunity to step in.
@PloverNutter I genuinely would have to delete most games to download it. I have an external that I keep PS4 games on but I just use the internal hard drive the console came with, it’s enough to have what I need installed.
Really heard great things about it but I do not have the hard drive space to even contemplate downloading a trial! Plus I’ll try that Marvel game tomorrow instead.
@HonestHick At its core, that’s anti-art. Games that are designed to make money (slop) are one thing but plenty games are developed out of passion and either make a ton of money or make no money at all. You’re commodifying games as content when they’re a form of art, they aren’t inherently only designed to generate cash. It’s reductive to only judge games based on their sales performance considering how many great games there are that didn’t sell too many copies.

@LogicStrikesAgain Sexism, homophobia and xenophobia is quite literally what anti-woke means. That’s the whole deal.

Well this is petty and childish. Guess China’s really getting into 2012 level nonsense.
Re: SEGA President Calls Sonic Superstars a 'Disappointment'
@jberg Oh I’m being silly, I get both games confused all the time! Frontiers is definitely creative, and i think it sold quite well too.
Re: SEGA President Calls Sonic Superstars a 'Disappointment'
Trying to defend Superstars and Forces as them doing something creative is quite a choice.

David Cage would be a much better person if he was comprised of literally nothing.

New game. New IP which is nice. Product placement is laughable. Remains to be seen whether it turns out good or not but ND usually at least deliver.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate The Game Awards 2024?
Cannot feasibly be anything more than okay. Good stuff there but so SO much filler that made it drag for years.
