Re: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remaster Fails to Show at Comic-Con, Leak Called Into Question

Nem

@Dragoon1994 My guess is that this remaster will come from Kakao games. The ones that remastered the darksiders trilogy and kingdoms of amalur.
CD is busy with assisting perfect dark and making the next tomb raider. They may have been consulted and my bet is that a sequel or remake, to happen, will come from them (but not until perfect dark and tomb raider are out). We'll see.

Re: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remaster Fails to Show at Comic-Con, Leak Called Into Question

@Bunchesopuppies The game is two halves. The original vision expanded since the beggining and with the deadlines and success of the first one, which had revolutionary tech for it's time and pushed the ps1 to it's limits. It's still an amazing experience. You get a complete story with 1 and 2.
The combat has aged, but the storytelling, voice acting, music and presentation are still amazing and worth revisiting.

Now on topic. I think it got inadvertidly leaked and it's still coming. A comic book adaptation may be forthcoming too, which would explain this timing mistake.

Re: Mortal Kombat 1 Adds Outrageous Animalities, Massive Story Campaign, and Much More

Nem

I still don't like what they are doing and it looks uninspired. I will continue to skip on this.
Imagine if they had made a game in the chaos and order realm after shang won or in the era of the great kung lao. This is the same with lots of timelines and dimensions and person and sex changes on the characters. The story doesn't matter anymore. It's a complete mess.

Re: Poll: Are You Sick of Soulslike Games?

Nem

I don't like them at all, but they do seem to sell.
A bit like open worlds. I am not averted to them, but they become very boring very quickly.

But both of those sell, so... it is what it is.

I'm just happy falcom exists. 😁

Re: Dragon Quest Creator Says Silent Protagonists Look Like Idiots

Nem

I agree. I was never in with the silent hero trope. It's boring and awkward. Just forces a second character to do the talking for them.

I get that it is for the player to fill the blanks in themselves, but it doesn't work for me. I don't want to be the character. That is a childish way to look at a videogame. You want to experience the journey of the character in their world.

Re: There's Already Concern Over Concord's Player Count as Open Beta Begins

Nem

I mean... this isn't a surprise, right?
We've been saying time and again that the market is saturated and the giants almost impossible to topple in the value they offer.
Make another 10 of these. The 10th will be the one, i'm sure. 🙄 Throw them all to the wall. One will stick, right? Right?

Yeah... may as well flush the money down the toilet.

Re: Sea of Stars Dev Offers Brief Update on Story DLC, Co-Op Mode

Nem

I did pick it up but was disappointed by the end.
They have a nice thing going if they stick to it, but i don't like this cross genre thing they got going. I don't want to have to play the messenger to be able to piece things together. It's not a genre i enjoy. I felt that cut the legs on this title. Like they purposely held off on giving a satisfying resolution to the story to make room for some other genre they want to make. I am not enough of a fan of them that i will play whatever they put out, so i can't get invested.

Re: Talking Point: Was Sony Right to Resist Adding PS5 Exclusives to PS Plus Day One?

Nem

A bait and switch scam from Microsoft? Who would've guessed. 🤷
I warned of this repeatidly for years as you lot tried to tell us what a great deal it was as they kept changing the terms of the deal. First you could keep your games forever, then you couldn't, then you don't get games day one, then you have to pay more, etc.

This was all awfully predictable and why i don't buy microsoft systems anymore. Actually i wouldn't buy microsoft anything. But they currently have a monopoly on windows which they force us to upgrade every few years just cause they can and everything breaks in your pc if they end support.
Best company. Lot's of good stuff. 😆

Re: Capcom Ends New Content Support for Exoprimal

For the full of hits capcom, this dud got shoved under the rug pretty quick.
Pretty sure they will remake or reboot dino crisis now. The only notoriety this game got was from the fact one of the characters looked like regina and everyone assumed dino crisis.

Re: Final Fantasy Creator Finished with the Series, Sees Himself as a Player

Nem

I mean... he has been off if for quite some time. I think FF10 was the last one he still participated on but left during development.

Now it would be lovely if he helmed a new entry in the Chrono series. Maybe a tribute to Akira Toryama.

Also, i must confess he is younger than i thought. To think he was still in his 30's when he left squeenix and he had already helped make 10 mainline titles and some spin off's.

Re: Best Trails Games Ranked: Which Trails Games to Play and Where to Start

Nem

Honestly, no one should get put off by the "time investment".
There are 2 possible outcomes. You either start playing it and love it and then you don't want it to end cause it's so good, or you don't care and will bounce off.

The main issue is the presentation. I diverge from most fans that tell you to play from Sky. I have tried to do so, and it's just too outdated. It feels like an early Arc the lad game on ps1.
The story is the main selling power on this series. You will love the characters and you will want to know what happens next. But, Sky is arguable very outdated and by extension Zero and Azure.

I recommend starting with cold steel. It's a great introduction to the world and it only grows from there. The presentation is far more acceptable than the old chibi games.

So, start there and read/watch a synopsis of the previous 2 subseries.
The most hardcore fans will tell you you will miss things, but how likely are you to remember every minor npc in such long games? Also, cold steel 3 gives you a review of past events.

So, no need to be daunted. Pick one game. Play it and then see if you get into it.
Disclaimer that this is a story heavy game. You have to enjoy well developed stories to enjoy this. It's as important as the gameplay aka battles, if not more.
