Re: Best Uncharted Games

Nem

I am partial to Uncharted 3. I loved the story that keeps you trying to guess the next twist and it had some amazing levels such as the underwater ship. I remember being in awe at how it looked.
It's the only uncharted game i'd replay now.

Re: Poll: Can a Game's Brutal Difficulty Put You Off Playing It?

Nem

I don't think i am a bad gamer. I have been playing games for more than 30 years.
Everytime i die in a game, my patience with the game starts diminishing.
If it's my fault it's all good and i will adjust. If it's cause it's cheap and annoying, each time i die and my time is wasted it empties the patience bag. If i am playing a game and constantly raging and getting my time wasted with repetition, it's over. I don't get any joy from overcoming a cheap challenge. I get relief and that does not feel worthwhile. I play games to have fun. I will not waste my time on trash. I will not live forever and there are other games i want to play.

When games make a selling point that they are souls like and/or dying a lot is a thing, i pass on them imediatly. It's instant cure. I won't buy your game.

Re: Silly Speculation Alleges Sony May Have Signed Secret PS5 Exclusivity for Black Myth: Wukong

Nem

What a nothing burger. What if they did? What if they didn't? Either way it doesn't matter. The game doesn't even have the wider appeal people might think it does. It's completely irrelevant.
The Xbox market is the smallest of the console markets. There is nothing surprising about skipping it or not giving it priority, given it's a market for game pass and not actual game sales. The big bucks are in PS, Nintendo and PC. So, yes, this will keep happening. The MvC collection also skipped Xbox. Oh no! Sony must've paid for Xbox to not have it. Cmon now... Sony is not responsible for Xbox's woes. Microsoft is.

Re: Poll: One Year Later, What Are Your Thoughts on Final Fantasy 16?

Nem

Same opinion as after i finished it.
It's a good game, i liked it very much. I saw the clear hand of what is the ffxiv team and what they have delivered in the past years and it was good.
But, i still want a return to a more classic ATB formula for another entry.

But let's be honest. The problem is the volume of games is different nowadays and the FF's of before need several entries of today to remake. That means that new entries will never be as good as they used to be. So, i think they should investigate ways to recreate that volume.
The good old traversable world maps weren't bad and made the world feel bigger, for example. I think they need to review what made the classics good and iterate on it. I think we are hitting too many samey action rpg's.

Re: Fed Up with Square Enix, Final Fantasy 14's Healers Are Going on Strike

Nem

The... low difficulty of the game? I wouldn't say that. There is challenging content and for non experienced players it's very easy to accrue vulnerability stacks in the casual content.

There are layers to the problems with healing. But in general it is the predictable nature of the damage intake and the existence of off-GCD heals that can cover the healing necessities.
This leaves healers as effective DPS with a simplistic rotation and off gcd healer.

There are naturally a number of GCD heals aswell that go unused and you may receive grief by not playing in the optimal way.

It is true, healing needs to be re-pondered in FFXIV. But, let's be honest even WoW struggles to balance it after 20 years. It's hardly a simple task. But, it can definitely be improved.

It is a fair shout to call for a redesign, but it's certainly not gonna happen for Dawntrail launch, which is in like a week or two.
Hopefully they make sweeping changes for the next xpac. I would like to see changes to tanking to also make it feel a bit more like playing a tank than a DPS.
We'll see.

Re: Poll: So, What Are Your Thoughts on Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

Nem

I will say i've been disappointed.
The game does not look like dragon age. Each subsequent entry seem to veer further and further away from the vibe of origins.
These plastic models do not look appealing at all. Like we went from realistic, bloody and dark fantasy to plastic looking, all ages approved generic fantasy.
The combat looked uneventful as well. Just more average action stuff.

Honestly, i have not seen anything impressive at all. It looked awfully generic. It could be called Fantasy Age and i would believe it.

Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster Is Reportedly 'Real and Happening'

Nem

I would live to see it in HD 2D.

Very happy about it. Alongside Xenogears it's one of my favorite rpg's of all time.
I'm really gonna need new content and graphics to play again though. I am swamped with games and i already beat tactics 3 or 4 times and kind of did all there was to do.

I am more excited about the prospect of a sequel.

Re: Preview: Playing Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero with Zero Knowledge of the Series

Nem

Every character playing similarly in terms of inputs is a series thing. It's what makes it easy to pick up and play so many characters. It was never a deep game. It was more of a "for fun" game for series fans. I think the point will be lost on others. It's meant to echo the feel of the battles from the anime.
3v3 is new though. Used to be 1v1.

Re: Forget About the Cheesy Reveal Trailer with 20 Mins of Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gameplay

Nem

@AverageGamer Bioware hates the heros of past games. They tend to kill them off canonicly. I think the inquisitor is the only one alive.
If yours survived they will do something nasty with them. I know the warden never shows up again. There is only a letter in inquisition even though morrigan shows up.
What i recall of hawke is if they survived DA2 you get a mission wether they or another character die in inquisition. I don't quite recall it very well. Either way, it's unlikely we will see hawke again, just like the warden. They really want to kill them off. I expect the inquisitor to be next.

Re: Across Its Vaunted IP, Capcom Fans Crave Dino Crisis Above All Else

Nem

Yes, i am a fan of dino's and time travel.
The problem is Dino crisis never took off because of several weird decisions.
The first was was a resident evil with dinos. It was alright, but it was under the shadow of RE which was better.
It was Dino crisis 2 where the series found it's footing moving into more outdoor environment and a more action heavy combat. The story took a step up too. It was the rise of the series.

But, then came the stupid decisions. One, the direct sequel to Dino crisis 2, Dino stalker, not only was named questionably, it was a light gun game. That there made fans of 2 lose contact with the series.
After that they went with the bizarre decision of making a huge time leap, leave behind the established characters and make Dinos in a space station, also known as the Xbox exclusive Dino crisis 3. Which was the disaster that killed the series.

So, do i want Dino crisis back? I want the Dino crisis from 2 back in a nice reboot.
The rest i don't want. 😂

Re: PS5 Exclusive Rise of the Ronin Is Koei Tecmo's Best-Selling Game

Nem

@Voltan Because after the hype comes the honesty. The true review of a game is how it stands up after the commercial pandering, purchase bias and graphics craze's pass.
From what i understand DD2 is repetitive, disrespects your time (aka makes it boring) and performs badly. Story is apparently not great either and it wasn't an evolution of the series as it was more of the same.
Not saying it's bad, but those are the issues that creep up from what i heard and i can understand people getting disenchanted once the dust settles.

Re: Forget About the Cheesy Reveal Trailer with 20 Mins of Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gameplay

Nem

I disagree. I think it looked as generic as the first trailer. Nothing about this was exciting.
I can't shake off the feeling that i already played something like this and got bored of it.

I cannot imagine the development hell this game went through. Something like this shouldn't have taken so many years.

Also, heck, do characters look worse than in inquisition? They look plastic like. I am sure i have seen better models of Varric.

Also dunno the fixation on just bringing in a new hero everytime, especially when the story is a continuation of the previous title. I guess the Inquisitor just decided to shrug Solas away.

Re: PS5 Hardware Architect Says It May Take Less Time to Build a Console Than a Game Now

Nem

Yes, it's all coming to an unsustainable edge.
If there are less games, the consoles will provide less value and sell less and therefore there will be less money to be made to turn a profit on these huge projects.
And no, live services aren't the answer. They are already saturated. Nintendo holds the answer to this problem and it would be best to make the change sooner than later. Stop rushing the tech.

Re: Some PlayStation Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over LEGO Horizon Being on Switch

Nem

Not at all. I had said before that it makes sense for Sony to put games on the switch, not the Xbox, just cause it's a much bigger market to tap.
This makes total sense and i feel vindicated that my analysis was spot on.
It still doesn't make sense to me for Sony to put their games on the much smaller Xbox market Microsoft themselves are running out of.
