I never got around to It Takes Two, so maybe this time I'll make it happen. I also am on a games with romantic partner protagonists (Banishers, Haven), so what the hey!
I'd already forgotten the game came out, tbh. The fact your review called it old school was pretty appealing, but I'm still unlikely to buy almost any game at launch, even if it's not asking for full price.
I think the market is so over saturated that games like this will always struggle to find an audience. It doesn't help that it has a very generic name, the art design isn't particularly eye catching and has the added complexity of explaining itself a cross media property no one has heard of.
With all that said, layoffs suck. Sorry to see people let go over years of work.
Game looks appropriately nutty, but will probably be skipping for the foreseeable future. I've gotten back into the series recently, but there are still too many games, so I think I am mostly planning on playing the core entries.
I don't know much about Australian news/politics, as an American, but I'd agree that this seems impossible to enforce and an overreach. I'm a parent, although my child is still a bit young, he does use YouTubeKids once in a while.
I think there is a lot of danger in social media, but I would agree with the a few of the commenter's that better moderation is where to start. I know I spend more time than I would like scrolling Facebook and Instagram, but as had also been said, you can't put that genie back in the bottle.
We can't restrict kids from accessing social media - I mean, based on that limited definition, this comment section is social media, is it not? The best we can strive for is cleaning it up, policing it and finding better strategies for how they access it. I know easier said than done, but this is not an all or nothing scenario.
It doesn't matter who's behind the game!? I get the product is the forward facing aspect of the business of gaming, but telling that games story is sometimes just as important.
Like Concord is a great example. I doubt if we had seen more of Firesprite it would have made a difference, but the game was announced, went dark, came back with a few months of uninspiring marketing and then died.
I never played the og, just 2 and Origins/Legends. I can't imagine if they remade the first that it would really resemble that game at all afterwards. The series has come a long way since then.
I guess I also am a bit skeptical of this story though. Is Rayman a good seller!? I know we got Legends after Origins, but I at least figured it made sense to use the engine again. Never seemed like Origins was a hit? I loved it, so I'm glad it must have done okay.
This isn't vaguely surprising to me, that it wasn't a commercial hit and that Ubisoft is disbanding the team. PoP is kind of a niche franchise to begin with, so I can't imagine this game ever being a big hit. I'm always curious what the numbers actually are - sales and their internal target.
For what it's worth I didn't buy this game - I actually checked it out from my library and beat it in 2 weeks. But I will say I absolutely loved it, and may buy a copy to stick on my shelf at some point.
I'm not going to speculate about the scope of the game, but I think it's smart to come in a little lower, if they can make it work. It's a brand new property from a developer no one has heard of.
I've wanted to get Banishers, I think I would really love it. I'm glad Dont Nod exist in that AA space, but I guess I just don't buy a ton of games at or near launch anymore.
I'll admit I had no interest in Jusant. I thought it was conceptually interesting but not for me.
If it was a game I was dying to play and it was a sizable pre-launch window, maaaaaybe? Like I could only imagine it for like a Street Fighter game for me. Otherwise, I don't buy games at launch, so this doesn't effect me.
Honestly, as icky as this stuff is, maybe it's better for most consumers? I feel like if publishers don't find ways to sneakily get more money out that actual MSRPs at launch will rise again, sooner than later. People are already speculating GTA6 might be $80 at launch, period.
If some whales want to pay $100 to play a game a couple days early and it let's me pay significantly less for basically the same experience... I'm okay with that.
@get2sammyb Well the first reason is Fortnite (checks PS Store) requires 96gb on space. I have a stock hard disk and don't want to tie up that much space. Second, I'm not interested in live service at all - I get these new games are distinct of Fortnite, but they're still designed to be engaged with longterm. Last, I think the other thing about Festival is I don't have instruments, I don't have a gaggle of close by late 20-something friends to play with in the same room anymore either. I loved that Rock Band experience years ago, and maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I'm in a place in my life to have that experience anymore, easily.
I never tried this because I'm not installing Fortnite  Same with Festival, and I love Harmonix. I just don't want to engage with the platform at all.
I played a little of one of the Budokai games way back, but I don't know, I just never liked how they played. I think if you have a history of playing "traditional" fighting games it can sometimes be hard to get into games like these.
I actually had a lot of fun with Super Dragon Ball Z back on the PS2. I know it was not all that popular compared to Budokai. It was much less flashy but it controlled like a Street Fighter game and was made by an SF2 designer.
I think this is super impressive considering it's a brand new IP. Persona 5 breaking out is one thing, but it still had the goodwill of P4 and P3 before it.
I started Dead Space yesterday. Was on my list of games to check out eventually, and this was a nice spooky season treat.
I'm enjoying it so far, but I'm also seeing how quaint it feels compared to modern games. I adored it when I played it on PS3, so I'm curious to see how it's changed.
I might try Doki Doki. I've never played a visual novel, though I know this one is supposed to be pretty subversive, so I'm curious.
I had forgot about this. I think it sounds and looks very promising. These guys always make interesting titles, I loved Anomaly back in the day. They also publish great stuff, like Moonlighter.
I never understand why Famitsu's scores are dubious. I can't remember them giving a bad game high marks. Their method is unconventional, with four reviewers, but they seem to be in the ballpark.
I'd still like to play it, but I just rarely buy games at launch. It's not necessarily because I know it will go on sale, it's just $70 is a lot for a game, period. (Even if it's totally fair in terms of economics)
I can't put my finger on why Outlaws didn't breakout more. Certainly some fans were off put by the female protagonist, some people might have decided to wait, some people lost interest from the good-not-great reviews. I think it's many little things.
I hope Ubisoft turns it around and Outlaws is a success for them. As much flak as they get, the industry would be worse off if they got gobbled up by someone else.
Fortnite is ancient now, so I would argue it's the present of gaming, not the future. I also agree with the sentiment that there can only be so many games that exist in this space. Traditional SP may get rarer and rarer, but as long as budgets take into account the smaller player base there isn't a reason they can't continue to be made. It's all about what you want out of gaming.
I thought the SoP trailer was great and then researching it, I found out about JJB being the creative director. That sold me on it. He was the art director on Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
This longer look was ok. I think the exploration is hard to demo in an interesting way. I also think it's kind of silly to say some games silver platter things and then his game has a dude tell you follow wind chimes and then there is a yellow brick road of wind chimes
Regardless, I'm intrigued about this and excited to see what they come up with.
I enjoy Kojima, probably not as much as some, but the idea of him making movies, etc. is not that exciting to me. Others have said this already but his dialogue is awful. His stories are weird and intriguing, but he can't (or won't?) seem to create scenes where characters have a normal sounding conversation. Someone mentioned everything is monologuing and that's definitely part of it.
One of the reasons I never finished Death Stranding was watching Sam interact with those damn holograms. I think part of that was budgetary issues, but geez, there is no sense of interaction between the actors. They exist in their own void.
I'm 41, I'm kind of over battle bikinis. With that said, adding the little shirt/shorts under these is just silly. Keep the originals or redesign the characters. The little cover ups are ridiculous.
There's no guarantee Outlaws would have sold better in November. Sure the game might have been slightly more polished, but I don't really think the game's soft sales are due to it being janky or unfinished. I feel like there was a collective shrug about the game.
Not for me, I think. I was really into Q on PS3, but haven't been interested in much of their work once they started making 3D games. Shooter, Sidescroller, Monsters 1, Eden, I really enjoyed all of those games, even Racer.
I was vaguely interested until they got to the combat and I saw the character switching and figured it was gacha. Then it just kind of seemed like Zenless Zone Zero to me, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but eh...
Jin's story was over. Narratively and thematically I don't even know where they would go with him.
I have no problem with a new protagonist or it being a woman. All I care about is whether Yötei is a better open world game. I adored GoT by the end, but it through and through an open world game by the Ubisoft book with Sucker Punch's flair. I want to see honest evolution of the genre. This is the exact reason I never finished Forbidden West: too big, too much of the same.
I'm basically sold on the game already, so I don't think I'd want to play a chunk of it out context, nor would I really want to play the opening only to have to wait to continue the game - assuming progress carried over. So I guess I'd skip it?
I'm not sure if I am getting the game at launch. I rarely buy games at full MSRP, so I might not start it until Christmas.
Without the upgrade path I wouldn't have, but for $10, sure, why not. Now, whether or not I'll actually play it again... probably not, or at least not for a while.

Re: Game of the Year: Push Square Readers Write About Their Favourite PS5 Games of 2024
Zau would be on my list as well. My overall top for the year is PoP: The Lost Crown.
Re: Rumour: The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Is Getting an Unreal Engine 5 Remake in 2025
I've never played it, so I could see myself playing a remake. I've only played Skyrim, as far TES goes.
Re: SEGA President Calls Sonic Superstars a 'Disappointment'
I haven't played Superstars, but it never really looked all that appealing to me. I think most fans would have preferred a Mania 2.
Critics also said the co-op was bad, which was its main selling point.
Re: 12 New PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Arrive Next Week
This is a great month. I've wanted Sonic Frontiers for ages and might give Forspoken a shot. Also lots of indies I've been curious about!
Re: Moonlighter 2 Brings Back Blend of Shopkeeping and Dungeon Crawling on PS5 in 2025
Pretty bummed they went 3D for the sequel.
Re: Indiana Jones PS5's Launch Trailer Will Make the Spring 2025 Wait That Little Harder
I'm pretty curious about this. The Indy IP has lost a lot of luster to me, but MachineGames is a solid dev so I think is going to be good.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for December 2024?
I never got around to It Takes Two, so maybe this time I'll make it happen. I also am on a games with romantic partner protagonists (Banishers, Haven), so what the hey!
Re: Rumour: PlayStation Event Could Be Incoming, Sony's Very Busy 'Behind the Scenes'
Just seems like they'd show something at the Game Awards rather than stage their own show.

Re: Rumour: EA Going All-In on Battlefield 6 in Bold Attempt to Revitalise Franchise
I feel like this is the same headline before every new Battlefield.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for November 2024?
For the record, I'm still out here not having played or even tried GTA5
Re: Remedy Offers Control 2 Insight, AAA Action RPG on €50 Million Budget
It's cool to see these sorts of numbers. I love these guys and I hope their games continue to find bigger audiences.
I'll definitely be grabbing Control 2 whenever that launchs and I'll certainly try out Firebreak.
Re: Game of Thrones Star Sophie Turner Might Play Lara Croft in Tomb Raider TV Show
Not keen on Sophie Turner, personally. I think she was solid in GoT, but I've never really thought she distinguished herself in other roles.
Should have just made Bella Ramsey Lara.
Re: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on PS5, PS4 Looks Mad, Dog

Re: 17 Games Land on PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
Honestly, probably most excited about Hungry Shark World. Looks like something I could play with my son.
Otherwise, I'm interested in Ishin!, but have a current playthrough of Infinite Wealth, so might need a break from the series.

It's weird you picked a Double Exposure header image since they aren't involved in that game
Re: Showa American Story Reveals the Craziest PS5 Trailer of 2024
If the gameplay is decent then I'm in. I love weird games, and I don't mind some junk, but the gameplay still has to be fun.
