There's a lot of good stuff on Extra this month, I've just played most of it already. With that said I'm pretty curious to check out Humanity. If it really is channeling Lemmings I'll be very pleased. I loved Lemmings back on PC a million years ago.
I'm not really that excited for this. I got pretty tired of both og and Miles Morales by the end of each. I think they are very good games, but they are both very safe and there isn't enough variety in mission design - MM really missed a Mary Jane-esque deviation.
I hope 2 mixes things up a lot more than bigger map, new activities.
@naruball I was going to make the bundle comment because it certainly made a difference. You couldn't buy a PS5 without it. I had to buy the Horizon bundle if I wanted a PS5 with a disc drive, eventhough I had a Horizon code from a friend. And this was directly through Sony!
Kind of a bummer, but Concrete Genie honestly never clicked with me. I liked the style a lot, however the actual gameplay was underwhelming. I found playing it pretty tedious.
I agree with comments that said they might have been a game away from something truly great.
@Polley001 I don't know the figures but it's kind of up for debate. I think if you combine all of the different versions of SF2 it would definitely still be king.
I don't know how I feel about Legends being added. I love the absurd players of SMB (Muffin Studwick for life), so seeing alongside hall of famers is a bit jarring.
I'm curious. It's a great series. I will say I'm surprised the animations don't look significantly better, nor do the character models. I still think they should go more cartoons, they're in this weird in-between which is even worse now with real players - although Keith Hernandez looks hilarious.
I wouldn't even assume this is due to $70 MSRP. 2020 saw a huge increase in unit sales compared to 2019, due to Covid. Everyone has seen demand trend back down since then, as people have returned to their normal routines.
Add on people like myself, who got Extra, plus inflation/economy, it's a lot more than a new game costing $10 more.
I'd like to see that graph with 2017 and 2018. Weren't numbers trending down before and 2020 was the exception?
I really liked Fallen Order, I thought it was a pretty good 3D Metroidvania. I'm sure Survivor is cool, I just play very few games at launch so I'll circle back to this sometime in the future.
I thought GI was pretty good but I just didn't enjoy the combat. I'm curious about this as a turn-based RPGs. I might give it a shot once it hits PlayStation.
I'm still sore the Sly Cooper movie was never released. I'm sure it would have been mediocre coming from the Ratchet & Clank studio but I was still eager nonetheless.
I think LittleBigPlanet could be really fun in animation. It could lend itself to short, self-contained episodes for all ages.
@liathach I mean I was being a bit dramatic with the bankruptcy comment. I'm sure they had a great last quarter, they noted Sonic Frontiers exceeded their own internal estimates.
Licensing definitely isn't something I thought about initially and clearly must be huge for them. However, there is some passion for their 16-bit and arcade roots, but I feel like that is mostly containing to a vocal minority - and not something I can actually see them making much money off of. Case in point they let someone else make Streets of Rage 4 and probably are kicking themselves over it (unless the licensing deal was very IP owner centric).
I can see the point of acquiring Rovio. Sega has a lot of IP I'm sure they would love to monetize on mobile.
Every major corporation engages in anticompetitive business practices. The hypocrisy is ridiculous. It's no different than political parties gerrymandering states for elections. The idea that making FF16 a console exclusive is analogous to say, buying Bethesda or Activision Blizzard is just silly.
I guess the part of this story that is the most surprising to me is that Sega has $1b in capital for acquisitions. They always feel like they're a couple of flops away from bankruptcy to me. I know Like a Dragon is a hit for them, but it's not a behemoth. Sonic is Sonic. I imagine their PC centric teams are better off then I think.
Definitely pumped for Kena and Paradise Killer. Two games I wanted to play but didn't see myself buying anytime soon. Maybe I'll go back to Doom Eternal finally, or at least sell my physical copy.
@AverageGamer. i think we're going to have to agree to disagree that people have different tolerances for what they might find annoying.
I'm not saying there isn't potential value in remaking P3, and I'm not saying buying a game twice versus getting it for free after you bought it are the same, I'm merely acknowledging someone's potential to feel a bit miffed in either scenario.
I'm sitting here now thinking I won't buy P3P on the outside chance it is being remade because I don't want to waste $20, or worse, buy it, and then later become annoyed.
@AverageGamer People are annoyed when they buy $10 indie games and then it's free on Plus. You might also be annoyed if you play 100 hours of the P3P rerelease and then there's a superior version right around the corner.
Remote Play is hypothetically cool, but the one time I tried it it was basically unplayable. I know other people have had success with it.
I think the Q Lite could be a cool device for a very specific audience. I wish I was part of that audience, but between only having okay internet connections and not having enough time to game anyway it is not a product for me.
I'd be more interested if it was a PS Plus connected device with some flash memory.
I mean, don't release it on a console where you have to compromise your vision? Or design a game that you can scale appropriately.
I don't think cross gen needs to end. I think publishers need to allow developers to decide where their games will work without significant compromise.
I get the potential benefits here. He's talking about speeding up pre-production, where an AI can create thousands of pieces in the time it would take an artist to make a few. The benefit is immeasurable. But what is the cost? Where is the end?
In the short term a concept artist either loses their job OR (and I've read threads about exactly this) they are stuck typing prompts into AI - as an artist myself I cant imagine the degradation someone might feel feeding your work personally to a machine.
In the long run, well, maybe they see how handy AI is and start delegating more and more work to it. Also, none of this touches on the fact the AI is copying other people's work 24/7.
I'm not super surprised they're supporting the game further. Volition was working on this for ages. The only way they're going to recoup anything on this game now is getting repeat sales from existing customers and trying to change the game's overall narrative in the community. Will they do that? I kind of doubt it, but hopefully, for Volition's sake as a studio, they do.
I think the timing makes sense for late next year, but I think given the nature of the PS5's life cycle so far it still feels premature.
I don't honestly even buy that the PS4Pro was a necessity. I don't own one and neither do many of my PS4 enabled friends. I was still thoroughly impressed with games in good old H-dizzle, like TLoUP2.
Super pumped for this drop. A lot of games I've wanted to play but haven't bought yet. Definitely going to play Ghostwire, Life is Strange 2 and True Colors, Untitle Goose and Haven.
Tchia looks pretty neat too, so I might try that too.
I went back to Returnal after putting it down for several months. The time away has worked because I was really slamming my head against the wall my first brush with the game and have quickly dispatched Phryke and Ixiom - the latter of which on my first try.
I think this is my favorite PS5 game by a mile so far, with Deathloop being a notable but distant second.
This game is simply the best. Probably my favorite game on PS4. One of the most satisfying platinum trophies I ever got - S ranking every stage was a riiiiiiide.
I'd like to try this game out, but definitely not buying it at full MSRP. I am not excited about a battle pass scheme, but I'll admit the game looks like it could be the right mix of shenanigans. The whole Virtual-On vs. Dinosaurs vibe is kind of working for me with a sprinkling of Binary Domain.
I'll keep my eye on this. I didn't care at all about LoL until Arcane, but now I'm watching all these side story games with great interest. I've had my eye on Ruined King and I'll be all over Project L whenever that comes out.
Of the 3 the only I am interested in is Code Vein, but even then, I don't think I am interested enough to actually play it. A lot of Bamco's action RPGs look kind of cool to me, but I don't know. I feel the exact same way about Scarlet Nexus.
If we get Tales of Arise down the road I'd probably give that a go.
I mean, this isn't exactly a revelation or hot take. Naughty Dog is bleeding edge graphics/tech, I can't even imagine the time sink of designing a more open ended game with their dedication to fidelity. I'm happy with them dipping their toes in open ended design a la Uncharted: Lost Legacy, but totally a devotee to their directed, linear experiences.
It looks like a really dark yet also shiny game. I don't have strong feelings about it in any way. I really liked Remake and literally thought XV was the worst AAA game I played last gen.
Admittedly I am not a FF fan. If people like it I'll play someday.
I haven't played the Dead Space remake yet but now that Motive has their feet wet I'd prefer they make an all new Dead Space game, whether that's unrelated to the remake or a brand new sequel - I understand that would be difficult to explain, but I'd rather a new game than another remake.
2 is a great game, but I just don't get too excited about playing remakes.
The format exists because sites like yours cover them and hype them up. That is the entire point. We wouldn't be talking about the PSVR2 stuff hardly at all without attaching those trailers to a dedicated show that people will make time to watch - for better or worse.
If Sony says they are showing stuff off, even if it's 3rd party, people obviously tune in. They may be left unsatisfied after but they still watched and discussed.
My first thought hearing there isn't specific console excluisvity was Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2 must have sold like garbage on Xbox One, which isn't exactly a reach.
As for Game Pass, it might not be worth it for either party. Microsoft basically owns all of the other big CRPG developers now so why pay for someone else's game to compete with their own product? And is Microsoft willing to shell out enough money to make it worth Larian's time to port it to Xbox?
Wasn't interested in this before and not interested in this now.
I'm surprised people thinks the style is worse than Arkham? The aesthetic is largely the same. I love the Arkham games but I thought the character design was hideous. This is just more of the same IMO.

Interested in Humanity, Lake, and still curious about Watch Dogs: Legion.
Lots of other good stuff but have played Ratchet, all of the Tomb Raiders and Dishonored.

Or, you know, since it's an open beta, an opportunity for people to play it who have not previously got into the closed betas.

Descenders is the only one I'm interested in.
Re: The Order 1886's Dev Ripped Apart by Facebook Owner After Acquisition

Re: Honkai: Star Rail Pre-Downloads Begin, But No Movement on PS5, PS4
