Good for them, I hope they keep it up!

Not like the PS5 was truly challenged this gen, in every region...
The only real competition was its own availability during the pandemics. Other than (end even in spite of) that, it outsold Xbox around the globe.
However, if Sony keeps ignoring the enrichment of it's first party portfolio the way they are, those laurels won't last for long...
"Fame is a capricious b....ch", don't keep her well entertained and it'll throw you to the wolves when you least expect it.
@Stephen Wow, Worms Armageddon, what a blast from the past! It's been a lot of years since I've last played it, but I can still hear that Holy bomb go "Haaaallelujah!" ^__^ Fun times, especially if you play it with friends! Enjoy!
Gonna continue Silent Hill 2 Remake, can't wait to get my mitts on the shotgun and show those monstrosities the real meaning of PAIN! ^__^
And mix it up with Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred - that Evade Eagle Spiritborn broken build that's floating around is the very definition of fun! If you play on PC, and have a mouse that has "free scroll" wheel, then go to Options and put evade to be also on the "Mouse Wheel Down" - give that wheel a twirl and hold on to the mouse cursor 'cause there'll be no stopping you!
Remastering old games, selling refurbished hardware... they should also do garage sales for a full trifecta.
Hopefully in a few years they can put a stamp on their budget: "There was a hole here. It's gone now"
Not italian, but even if I was, I would have used the English subtitles. Translations seldom match the content perfectly, in games or movies... They break the immersion more often than not by using unfit words or expressions, either because of the translator's sloppiness, or of language differences.
Of course I'm playing, was eagerly waiting for it since it was announced.
Quite a thrill to be back in SH2 after so many years!
Got my hands on the wooden plank and started roaming the
town. Right away that famous quote popped
up in my head: "Let us cleanse these foul streets!" - fits perfectly!
If only SH2 had the same type of messaging mechanic, would have been awesome ^__^
Anyway, I'm in Wood Side Apartments for now, progressing steadily.
Epic Remake, bravo Bloober Team, congrats for winning the
up-that-silent-hill battle, and beating the odds!
Ubisoft is the very definition of the words "stale" and "milking".
They've made some good games over the years, like AC Odyssey, Far Cy 2 and 3, and the Prince of Persia sands of time trilogy from the 2000's...
But they grow and evolve very very slowly, they milk the same formulas over and over to such extremes that sequels arrive being worse than the originals. They add a few ideas but stick too tightly to the same basic structure of the previous games, or bloat them needlessly . AC Valhalla and Far Cry 4, 5 and 6 are the best examples of "going down the hill".
And innovation is even rarer... Star Wars Outlaws was a good idea in theory, but poorly implemented.
I'm curious to see what AC Shadows will bring, but I'm willing to bet it's the same basic AC open world formula at it's core, with a few new ideas sprinkled on top, all set in a new area... and that's about it. They have some time to improve it, but a few months is not a lot... and they won't be able to extend it, they can NOT afford to go head to head with Ghost of Yotei....
And if AC Shadows flops, that's about it... they can kiss their arse goodbye then and there.
Fans bought them? More likely scalpers preparing in advance... You'll see them explode on Ebay for double the price after the console's launch, when the low stocks dry up completely...
Bought the Deluxe Edition and I'm ~2h in.
It has some quirks here and there, like rain water pouring from exterior lights that have no roof above or very close to them, from which that water can gather and pour... and it's not even raining... Or that same pouring water dropping right through James as if he's not there, no collision whatsoever.
But that's just small potatoes.
It's a very good Remake overall.
No severe bugs encountered (other than the vicious roaches, but you can easily introduce those to your wooden plank ha ha).
No crashes, no weird artifacts.
Framerate is generally stable.
It's more graphically demanding than the GoW Ragnarok port for example, but 4k@60fps is possible with DLSS on Quality and everything on high/max settings on my undervolted RTX 3090 SuprimX (+ 7800X3D, 32GB RAM), so it's all good.
Anyway, to any fan of the OG game still on the fence : it's more than worth the purchase - PS5 or PC - take your pick, and go for it !
Preordered the Deluxe edition of Silent Hill 2 Remake, that's available from today. For now I'm ~2h into it, having a blast around town smacking monsters with a nailed wooden plank, while exploring every building! And only a few broken windows and tried locked doors away from their respective achievements - coming right up! Have a fun weekend everyone!
What's clear cut is that the best the PS5 Pro has to offer at launch are patches for old games, and you are required to pay 800 euros for the "privilege" to replay them.
PS5 Pro is exactly what I need !
I'll be ordering one as soon as PS6 launches.
Hopefully by then it'll receive more than a handful of new 1st party releases, to actually merit the investment.
I'd be up for some new games, in fact, enough with the dust-up of old releases...
Not to mention that Sony's total 1st party portfolio is not infinite, they'll run out of material sooner rather than later.
What are they gonna work on for the PS6, Re-Re-Remasters?
Nixxes should be upgraded to work on new content, new IP's or at least sequels, as they are clearly very talented.
I don't know about the Lego game, but those real life Lego sets would be awesome.
I'd get some for my son if more of them were ever released, as he loves Burrowers, Striders, and even Watchers from the game... He loves converting them and to always have one around while playing.
He'd be besides himself to actually have them as real toys.
On top of the already mentioned reasons, I would add the console sales numbers: PS5 crushes Xbox Series in every part of the world. Any game released on PS5 would benefit from more potential buyers by default, adding an important weight to the platform decision making.
The open world related activities in the first game were novelties at the time, different from the usual "Ubisofty" "go there fetch that".
On my first playthrough I didn't have a problem with them.
The second time around though (after 1 year or so) I wish they were... less in number and more diverse. Especially the chasing ones, golden birds and foxes.
Did enjoy the bamboo cutting though, both times, I hope they add something similar to it in GoY.
Also the flute singing and matching the waves with the gamepad's gyro, introduced in the DLC, that was interesting too, another one they could keep for the sequel.
Is playing the game on Ubisoft+ added into those numbers?
Because that's the cheapest way to play each and every one of their games even at launch, and many people know it.
Paying 18$ for 1 month to play a game that most likely you won't play a second time, trumps paying 70$ for it's retail version any day.
Should I add you have direct access to the Deluxe or Ultimate editions on the service? That's 18$ VS 100-120$ right there.
Looks like Epic Games had more conditions for their huge investment in the sequel, on top of the PC exclusivity on their Store.
Because this line emanates a "corporate BS" aroma to cover a square mile.
Selling an IP's soul and originality for money... that's gonna go down so well.
Unfortunately Ubisoft and it's Assassins Creed games became a victim of their own success, when it comes to Historical accuracy.
Keep in mid that AC Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla and Mirage, all ended up having Discovery Tour modes.
It may seem like a trivial thing, but it's not...
I mean, a bunch of action-adventure games get to be used in schools, museums and public presentations because they provide the best 3D mediums that can accurately depict their respective eras - that's A LOT !
And it's a high standard that every future AC game will have to live up to!
I don't get why Ubisoft didn't take that into account form the very start of AC Shadows development...
And I'm not talking about the whole Yasuke debacle here, but about the inclusion of expert architects and historians from the very start.
Now as a result, the game gets to miss the holiday season...
Of course there are also other reasons that contributed to the delay.
But not allocating the proper importance to historical accuracy was clearly a bad decision on their part, one that it's best to be remembered for their next AC title...
Why is this casual point of view even considered so relevant that it merits making article headlines ? The situation can very easily change tomorrow or next week... Nothing better worth reporting on right now ?
If I was to adorn a tin-foil hat for a minute, I would say that all of those gaming hardware price increases (consoles and PC), ads flooding every platform..... a general irking of gamers everywhere..... is part of a big push to slowly lead us towards cloud gaming, with subscription based access, no consoles, no physical game releases, etc...
A kind of slow "souring the milk" action is in progress, before they bring on the "best solution for this crisis is in the clouds !! " later on.
Mais oui, bien sur! And for whom is that ?
'Cause that would be a situation where you own no game (not as if you would 100% own a digital game right now, but at least there's the physical option)
Where they (the big corps) control basically everything, from what you play, to how you play, to "for how long" and "for how much".
They could increase the prices however they like, cut your access whenever they feel you've stepped out of line, add and remove access to games however they please...
And if you want zero ads ? "We have that tier on offer, of course, for a mere extra 50$ a month! Better hurry, it's a limited time offer, while supply lasts!"
And if you can't stand it, you're welcomed to hit the road... go join the competition if you want, 'cause there's gonna be none.
But that's all fairy tales ofc.
We'll see what the 2030's bring.
They shouldn't have released it in the first place, not worth the risk, not for this.
I'm surprised Sony didn't slap them with a "cease and desist" during the time it was live, they usually don't waste such opportunities.
It's a cold rainy "autumny" day today, not much to do outside, so it's time for some indoor activities.
Playing Astro Bot with my son on his PS5, helping him to do some double passes on a few levels where he didn't find every bot and puzzle piece. He's playing 'cause he's much better at it than I am (didn't play it for now, and i'm a little rusty since Astro's Playroom). And I'm watching, and suggesting hidden paths to take. Sometimes the scanning bird doesn't warn you if the start of the side path is too far from the target, so you still need to look out for them.
Works very well overall, we've got the golden crown on many areas so far 👍
And going for a little God of War Ragnarok for myself on PC in the evening, for the Steam achievements.
Have a fun weekend everyone!
@Shalooda Point is simple: most of Sony's first party exclusive games are already on PC, so if someone has a good PC, there's no need to spend 800 Euros on a PS5 Pro... The PC ports are already the best versions graphically speaking - PS5 Pro would bring nothing extra.
And if one also happens to own a PS5, then they're set at least until PS6.
This is just one point of view of many that are possible.
As the saying goes, "to each, his own"
15 minutes ago I was casually looking in my Steam library to see what games I have already installed. Except Black Myth Wukong, Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption 2, here's the rest:
Ghost of Tsushima
God of war 2018
God of war Ragnarok
Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Zero Dawn
Spider Man Remastered + Miles Morales
The Last Of Us Part 1
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves
What's actually the point of paying 800 Euros for the PS5 Pro ?
@2here2there Not more than the middle part of Soul Reaver 2 when you go to the future, I remember that fighting against those creatures was quite difficult using the game's mechanics
Maybe they can address that in the Remaster (that is, if they are gonna touch on the combat and platforming that has aged really bad in both games... but that's a huge arse IF )
Since it didn't take time from the main dev team working on the eventual sequel, and it's being sold only as a 10$ upgrade, i guess it's ok, and I'm gonna buy it.
BUT
What irks me is that Sony chose again to remaster a game that didn't need it, while still grossly ignoring games that really do... like Bloodborne, the first 3 Uncharted games etc.
Good show, compared to their previous ones it was an obvious improvement.
Mostly because of Ghost of Yotei, that was quite the surprise!
Happening ~329 years after the previous game, it seems.
Very curious to see more gameplay, the mechanics, hows it gonna be compared to GoT.
I love the Legacy of Kain franchise! But those who decided this release was a good idea clearly don't even know the IP, or poses proper vision of what can be achieved with it if properly brought back... or at least care enough to do it justice.
Stirring people up with mandatory PSN log-in without proper reason, making the game unavailable in countries sans PSN, but, as usual, not using Denuvo to protect the PC port.
Easy for enterprising people to create and offer alternate solutions, and no surprise that gamers turned to them...
Many people haven't even heard of Banishers: GoNE. Valid for me also, I didn't even know it existed until I saw a "best story driven games" type of video on YT, totally by random chance, and at some time after the game's release...
It's not the fault of the IP, its a really good game... But they should invest more in marketing if they want their creations to be known and sales to reach desired numbers...
While it should not even be a requirement, as I understand it's also blown out of proportion in some countries, requesting an ID, or a mug picture etc...
Not to mention preventing the game from being bought digitally in countries without PSN service...
It's stupidly implemented!
For myself it's no biggie, I have 3 PSN accounts made over the years on my PS consoles, one in US, one in UK and one in my own European country, to benefit from multiple offers and currency differences (especially euro->$$ ).
I can use the US account to log in on Steam when required, without any problems or unusual requests ( works flawlessly even in God of War Ragnarok )
EDIT: btw, the PC port of GoW Ragnarok is top notch! Played for 6-7 hours and encountered no bugs or other issues, framerate is perfectly stable, 4k@60fps everything on Ultra, even without DLSS on my RTX 3090 SuprimX. Graphics are sharp and everything runs smooth. Very well executed by SMS and Jetpack Interactive, bravo!

And if you can't stand it, you're welcomed to hit the road... go join the competition if you want, 'cause there's gonna be none.
But that's all fairy tales ofc.
We'll see what the 2030's bring.
Re: Author Pulls PC God of War Ragnarok PSN Mod, Fearful of Sony's Wrath
They shouldn't have released it in the first place, not worth the risk, not for this.
I'm surprised Sony didn't slap them with a "cease and desist" during the time it was live, they usually don't waste such opportunities.
Re: Sony's Live Service Push 'No Joke', A Lot of People Working on Horizon Online
To those sustaining that Sony isn't currently milking the Horizon franchise - to quote a GoW 2 line "Do you need more proof than this" ?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 548
Re: Poll: Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?
@Shalooda Point is simple: most of Sony's first party exclusive games are already on PC, so if someone has a good PC, there's no need to spend 800 Euros on a PS5 Pro... The PC ports are already the best versions graphically speaking - PS5 Pro would bring nothing extra.
And if one also happens to own a PS5, then they're set at least until PS6.
This is just one point of view of many that are possible.
As the saying goes, "to each, his own"
Re: Poll: Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?
15 minutes ago I was casually looking in my Steam library to see what games I have already installed. Except Black Myth Wukong, Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption 2, here's the rest:
What's actually the point of paying 800 Euros for the PS5 Pro ?
Re: Newly Signed Law May Restrict Sony's Use of Terms Like 'Buy' or 'Purchase' for Digital Games
Very good first step in the right direction - hopefully not the last.

How to Pre-Order PS5 Pro
Re: How to Pre-Order PS5's 30th Anniversary Collection
Scalping in progress...
Expect 200% prices on Ebay soon enough.
Re: All Eyes on Aloy (Again), as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Comparison Does the Rounds
What Horizon Zero Dawn would truly benefit from, is a glider, like the one in Forbidden West...
Re: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered Is Real, Reborn on PS5, PS4 in December
@2here2there Not more than the middle part of Soul Reaver 2
when you go to the future, I remember that fighting against those creatures was quite difficult using the game's mechanics
Maybe they can address that in the Remaster (that is, if they are gonna touch on the combat and platforming that has aged really bad in both games... but that's a huge arse IF )
Re: Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered PS5 Is Official, Out 31st October with $10 PS4 to PS5 Upgrade
Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for September 2024?
Good show, compared to their previous ones it was an obvious improvement.
Mostly because of Ghost of Yotei, that was quite the surprise!
Happening ~329 years after the previous game, it seems.
Very curious to see more gameplay, the mechanics, hows it gonna be compared to GoT.
Re: What Time Is PlayStation's State of Play?
Prepare to select the last option from the "What's your opinion about the State of play?" poll coming tomorrow...
Re: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered Leaks for PS5, PS4
I love the Legacy of Kain franchise! But those who decided this release was a good idea clearly don't even know the IP, or poses proper vision of what can be achieved with it if properly brought back... or at least care enough to do it justice.
Re: God of War Ragnarok PC Mod Removes PSN Login Requirement
Stirring people up with mandatory PSN log-in without proper reason, making the game unavailable in countries sans PSN, but, as usual, not using Denuvo to protect the PC port.
Easy for enterprising people to create and offer alternate solutions, and no surprise that gamers turned to them...
Re: Don't Nod 'Disappointed' by Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Jusant Sales
Many people haven't even heard of Banishers: GoNE.
Valid for me also, I didn't even know it existed until I saw a "best story driven games" type of video on YT, totally by random chance, and at some time after the game's release...
It's not the fault of the IP, its a really good game... But they should invest more in marketing if they want their creations to be known and sales to reach desired numbers...
Re: State of Play Confirmed for Tomorrow, 20+ PS5, PSVR2 Games Included
Just another useless SoP, filled with 3rd party titles and remasters... yey, me so happy!
Re: God of War Ragnarok PC Review Bombed Over PSN Requirement
