Re: Horizon Zero Dawn's PS5, PC Remaster Is Very Much the Real Deal

Shinnok789

@get2sammyb Unfortunately it's in the process of being milked, considering that, aside from the existing 3 games, they already released separate PC versions of the first 2 games, they have in the pipeline a Lego game, and a TV show, and an eventual 3rd main game. Not to mention Remasters like this one here, DLC's, PS5 Pro patches, eventual PS6 Re-Remasters because... why not... etc.

Re: THQ Nordic Announces PS5 Port of PS4 Remaster of PS3 Action Game Darksiders 2

Shinnok789

I loved this franchise ever since I've seen the first Darksiders' trailer way back in 2007.
And I finished the first 2 games at least 5-6 times each over the years, once on Xbox 360, once on PS3 and the rest on PC.
Darksiders, Prototype, Infamous, Uncharted, God of war... damn good years to be a gamer !

Darksiders 3 carries an even bigger meaning for me, not because it was a better game (it never surpassed the first 2 games) But because it was the title that pushed me towards entering the Soulsborne genre.
It's not 100% a Souls like game, but when it launched the only combat style it hat was of the punishing variety.
I've finished it some time before the devs added the "classic combat mode" or whatever it's called.
And it was my love for this franchise got me to push through all the despise I had for it's difficult combat, and stick to it 'till the end.
Seeing that I was able to pull this off, and that I even started to enjoy it, made me want to give Bloodborne a try - and the rest is history.... I got hooked on the genre with no chance of escape, and it's all Darksiders 3's fault ^__^

Can't wait to see what Darksiders 4 has in store for us!
Maybe they can manage to include a 2-4 riders coop mode ? That would be appropriate for the 4th game, and I think it would be very appreciated by gamers.

Re: LEGO Horizon Adventures Bares Its 'A*s' in ESRB Rating for PS5, PC, Switch

Shinnok789

My son finished both Horizon games and their DLC's and he loves them both ( he especially likes converting Striders, Watchers and Burrowers - rarely played without one of them around ^__^ ).
As for Lego games, he played Star Wars Skywalker Saga for a while, but he wasn't that into it.
However, he may feel differently about a Horizon lego game, since he loves the first 2 games.
We'll see how it goes when it launches.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Astro Bot?

Shinnok789

It's an excellent game, there's no disputing that.

My one and only gripe with it are the boss fights.
And no, not for me, but for kids.
The game has a 7+ rating, yet the bosses are rather difficult for small children, and has no option to change it.
If they get to die close to the end of the last phase of a boss for example, well tough! They have to do the boss all over again from the very start. On repeated deaths, the fights become frustrating for them.
Even some of the higher age rating games include some helping elements the player receives after repeated deaths... or include checkpoints after each boss phase. I would have liked to see them do something similar in Astro, given its age rating. At least as an option disabled by default, that can be activated if needed.

Other than that, the game is awesome, bright, colorful and fun, with lots of secrets and hidden items to discover! Best 70 euros I've spent on a game in a long time!

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

Shinnok789

Right now they offer nothing of note that can convince a lot of PS5 owners to upgrade.
Hell, they'll have a hard time even with the PS4 owners...

I mean Mikey boy there, in his PS5 Pro presentation, chose to talk about the current PS5's prowess while showing scenes from God Of War - which is a PS4-PS5 cross gen title.
And then went on to show what we're gonna play on the shiny new 800$ PS5 Pro for the foreseeable future - same old cross gen titles, with patches !
Laughable!!

Re: Guns More of a 'Fallback Solution' in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Shinnok789

I've got no problem with that.
I love all Uncharted games, it's an epic IP. But they always had more gunfights than actual treasure finding / puzzle solving / exploration.
So this will be a nice change, and in line with Indy's style.

I just hope the game will be good overall and doesn't promise a ton just to end up being disappointing, like Starfield was...

Re: Just Like Black Myth: Wukong, PS5 Action RPG Enotria Is Delayed Indefinitely on Xbox

Shinnok789

To quote a famous line from an old TV series (B5) : "Understanding is a three-edged sword: your side, their side, and the truth."
"In war, truth is the first casualty" - says another famous line.
Both apply here, so we're left only with what misinformation either side wants us to see / hear.

Well, I say, don't play,
just turn around and go your own way!

There are so many good titles to experience nowadays with which to occupy your time, that temporary exclusivity becomes less and less important.
All that precious free time wasted on guessing around in the convoluted drama of those 2, could be better used playing an epic title!

Cheers!

Re: Let the Astro Bot PS5 Launch Trailer Tide You Over Until Release

Shinnok789

BOY! ^__^
This game is gonna be GOTY for a lot of people.
Doesn't matter if it's gonna win any awards or not, a lot will still have it close to heart simply because it's pure lighthearted and fun gaming, accessible and enjoyable at any age!

Already preordered the game.
Even managed to preorder the Astro DS gamepad for my son... and at a local retailer of all places, and at a normal price!
It's not Christmas, but considering the current shtuff happening in the gaming hardware sales around the globe, it sure felt like a small miracle (o_O)
Oh, and I didn't tell him about the pad yet, ssh! 🤫

Can't wait for both items to arrive!

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Design Seemingly Leaked

Shinnok789

Imagine Sony releasing this one at 749$ without a disk drive, and selling the drive separately for 50-100$...

And those stripes are a wrong design choice...
Yo, Sony, is that the best you can do ? There's a lot of talented people out there, put that HR department to work!

Re: A New Day, a New Bloodborne PS5 Rumour

Shinnok789

A hefty Bloodborne Remake or a straight up Bloodborne 2 - I'm fine with both.

However, I don't believe the rumor.
If it's "in the works" It won't be for PS5 Pro, Sony won't release it casually, they'll wait for a console launch to make a huge case out of it. So it'll come out on PS6 - which is an uber long shot for a rumor to nail down.
If it's supposed to release on PS5 Pro launch, it wouldn't be "in the works", but in the final phase.

All in all, if this rumor doesn't have something more concrete to back it up, it should not be taken seriously.

Re: Indiana Jones PS5 Is a Huge Game with Many Secrets to Uncover

Shinnok789

I don't know why but this game leaves me the impression of a second Starfield: in that it looks epic and promises a ton, but will end up disappointing players in various ways.

I have game pass U for a while longer, so I'll give it a go on PC either way.... I can only hope they prove me wrong and deliver.

Re: Reaction: It's Time for Xbox to Tell Us Which Games It's Bringing to PS5, and Which Games It Isn't

Shinnok789

Sony doesn't share a list of games it plans to bring to PC...
Hell, they don't even make one for their own PS Studios titles that they plan to release on PS5 in the next 1-2 years....
So why would MS and Xbox make one for the games it plans to bring to PS5?

And on the other hand, why does it matter? I mean a list would be maybe a "nice to have" but I, for one, don't really care if they'll make one or not. One doesn't primarily buy a PS to play Xbox games...

Re: Poll: What PS5 Games Do You Most Want to See at Gamescom 2024?

Shinnok789

Crimson Desert - would be great to see more of it, maybe even a launch date. It looked damned impressive in last year's trailer.
Death Stranding 2 - some gameplay?

For the rest of the games I'm aiming to play this year, I don't need (nor want) any more info... leave at least some mystery to be uncovered during my playthrough.
Also some new good surprises would be nice.

But I won't be having any hopes going into the show, for any of the above - it's for the best.

Re: Preview: Silent Hill 2 PS5 Grows in the Right Ways for Anticipated Remake

Shinnok789

Good preview, short and efficient!
And I like what I'm seeing about the Remake itself.
Silent Hill 2 This was the very first SH game I played back in the day, and the one I like best (after having finished most of them.... even Origins and The Room).

The thing that impressed me the most about it and stuck with me ever since, was the sequence at the beginning where you get to pick up an ordinary piece of wood with nails in it and start fighting back... Epic !
I don't care at all for games where you're forced to be just a scared little "mouse", with no option to get something like a simple frying pan or whatever, and bonk monsters on the head.

I was a bit concerned that Bloober would simply throw something together just to get a quick buck - very glad to be proven wrong.
Will get it day one!

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite PS5 Roguelike Games

Shinnok789

Heh, not really a fan of them...
Tried Returnal on PC for a 3-4 hours but didn't like it so much... Same goes for Hades
The only Roguelite (mind the "lite") that I enjoyed was the God Of War Valhalla DLC, mostly because it's God Of War and it continued the story of the main games.

Re: Beware! Scalpers Reselling Astro Bot PS5 Controllers for Ridiculous Prices

Shinnok789

@Chasloyal You're defending an action invented by sellers to stir up buyer interest by taking advantage of the human psyche.
Action that is very well known by it's initiators to always result nowadays in an effed up tactic from opportunistic individuals, called scalping - and they do it anyway. But I guess that's not a problem... we love scalping and paying through the nose 2-3 times the normal price.

Should I add that Sony's own PS Direct stores only sell the controller in the countries they are located, and they don't make it available worldwide?
And the only stores that sell it internationally namely Amazon, get scalped to hell with the help of bots?
So half or more of the total of interested buyers only see the proverbial "dangled carrot", without actually having a legal chance to preorder one.

All Sony had to do is manufacture 100.000 controllers instead of 5.000 or whatever this "limited edition" numbers actually translate to.
That is not "flooding the market", it's providing sufficient stock so that everyone has a chance without being forced to trip over themselves to get one for their kid... And it would have avoided scalping.

But hey, who gives a crap, right?
If every major company does it, it's fair game, they should keep doing it.
And the resulting scalping... well that's just life, innit?
If it gives you lemons, you should stick to making lemonade, and not strive to make a "better drink"....

Re: Beware! Scalpers Reselling Astro Bot PS5 Controllers for Ridiculous Prices

Shinnok789

The root of the problem is not scalpers, they are actually one of the results.
The issue started with Sony, and their decision to release a "limited edition" controller, knowing full well what happened with their own PS5 and it's limited stock ~3 years ago...
But I guess they enjoy watching people squirm over their unavailable hardware... so they're really cranking that "people will always crave what they don't have" knob at 120%

Re: Poll: Have You Pre-Ordered an Astro Bot PS5 DualSense Controller?

Shinnok789

I was right in my above comment it seems, because today on Amazon FR preorder offers appeared from scalpers requesting 200 Euros apiece (!)
Wanted one for my son, but I will NOT pay scalpers !

Preordered a physical copy of Astro Bot for him in the meantime at a local store, just because of the poster included in the box - he'll love it!
