Re: PS5, PC Hero Shooter Concord Was in Development for 8 Years

Strange, I'd love to blame Jim Ryan for his misguided live-service direction...but this puts it smack in the middle of Shawn Layden's tenure. However, being 'in development' can mean a lot of different things. In concept, exploring direction options, you name it. Kind of an odd statement all things considered.

Re: PS5 Gets a Staggering, Officially Licensed 8TB SSD

I've had a fabulous Cuda 4tb for almost 2 years now and it's fabulous. I tried an 8tb but it went poorly. Didn't have the integrated heatsink and just returned it. I'll wait for that mammoth price to come down and see if the PS5 Pro with full native back compat lands before trying another SSD.

This was not very well thought out. The only real target markets were Switch and PS5/PS4. Xbox and Steam you can still buy the old version. A few new levels is not gonna force a purchase for such a niche older game. PC especially. I'm all for consolidating old fabulous indie titles on my Switch, but complaining about how terrible the sales were is pretty weak. This was never gonna be a juggernaut. Or even a shadow of its originality.

Re: Ubisoft Responds to Assassin's Creed Shadows Criticism, Apologises to Japanese Players

This trend of entertainment studio's apologizing and excusing before products are released lately, is really interesting. Especially considering the complete opposite to their counterparts who are just promoting.

-Ghost of Tsushima: no apology. Just amazing promotion.
-Ass Creed Shadows: already apologizing and excusing months before release.

-Rings of Power: Been apologizing and excusing since it was in concept. Wanting to make Tolkeins world for 'modern audiences'.
-The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: great promotion by all involved after making the series as tho it was to be watched by Tolkein himself.

-Star Wars Disney: huge promotion for a dedicated fan base that has, at best, had mixed results. The poor results always attack the fans.
-Star Wars Lucasfilm: huge promotion and even when the results are mixed, the reception is appreciative.

-Game of Thrones HBO: even with the high controversy of the final season, there was nothing but love for the material and George RR Martin even being directly involved.
-Wheel of Time Amazon: a complete dumpster fire, train wreck over-saturated with CGI garbage instead of good writing.

There's plenty of more examples. But what's the difference? True dedication and often reverence for the source material. Peter Jackson's trilogy was a love letter to Tolkein. Rings of Power...I dunno what that's supposed to be. Ghost was nearly a decade of love put into by Sucker Punch. Current Star Wars is almost degenerate in respect to the source material. And don't get me started on the Wheel of Time series, the actors aren't great but good lord...that storytelling and writing is trash.

@KennethKoerperich88 I played thru FF16 recently. I'm not particularly great with timing mechanics anymore, as age has finally caught up with me. But the timely accessories in particular, made for a much more enjoyable experience than I expected. Yes, there are many who have far more debilitating circumstances, as all of us likely will at some point. I simply find the whole idea of catering with a simple menu toggle to be unimaginative and lazy. Such is the trend of modern games tho.

Re: Fed Up with Square Enix, Final Fantasy 14's Healers Are Going on Strike

@Nem F the MSQ and normal dungeons are particularly easy. Healing has been a growing problem for years. Dispelling became a rare use and the increase in hybrids with heals and buffs like Dancers, or in some cases a far better Rez utility like Red Mages. The complete dumbing down of Healing such as the utter destruction of the Astrologer class from its original awesomeness. I gave up Healing in Endwalker. It's a thankless job with limited group support outside of playing tetris with the heal bars. Even Sage being a DPS-ey Disc Priest style healer is terribly boring with extremely limited DPS mechanics. All the excitement in FF is purely in the DPSers.
